Building a Sound System, Input Wanted

Sometime in the near future I will be putting a new sound system in my 4runner. I have never put an aftermarket sound system in any of my cars, so this will be my first one.

I think I am going to get all the components off of the internet and then have a shop do the majority of the install.

Right now I am thinking of going with:
Alpine W505 Screen
6.5" Focal component speakers in the front
6.5" Focal speakers in the rear
10" Boston Acoustics G5 or Alpine type x

powered by mtx or jbl amps, just heard good things about them, feel free to suggest other amps, just let me know why.

But, I still have questions....

Will any 6.5" speaker work in the doors of a 4th gen?
What size are the stock tweeters, and will I have a problem fitting component tweeters in the stock housing?
Are there any parts to the install that are so easy, paying for it would be stupid? ie speakers in rear door.
How badly would I need an amp for the speakers? they are around 80 watts RMS.
Where are the best locations for mounting amps?
Tips from experience with a sound system in a 4th gen.

Anyways, I am just looking for some imput as well as different opinions on the set up, so let me know.

I am a all out Focal guy! 165 K2p in the front and 165 KVs in the rear.

Eclipse deck. My Focal FP 4.75 amp is going in on Thursday. I am STOKED!

I think you can probably do all of the door speakers if you have any woodworking ability at all. It is mostly making MDF fit adapters.

I like your idea about buying your stuff. You will come out much cheaper that way.

I would really look at changing those amps. Looks for a Focal, Alpine, or JL amp. Those should suit you much better.

Common places for amps are under the driver's or passanger's seat and also mounted to the back of the rear seats.

Like above posters have said, you could probably do the speakers yourself. There are adapters on Ebay that you could buy, I'm not sure how good their quality is though.

Thanks for all the replies. I think I will install the speakers in the doors, and have a shop do the amps and head unit.

Why do you say if I buy focal off the internet it will be fake?
I am probably going to get the speakers from woofersect.com and get the head unit and amps from ikesound.com.

I am looking for more input on the amps, why alpine, focal and jl? Are they more reliable? And should I just get amps that produce the same power (RMS) as the speakers and sub?

Nice, I am looking at the lower end PolyKevlar 6.5". Have you heard anything about the 165KF's?

Also, is an amp a necessity for the components? Or is it good enough I should wait and see how it sounds before investing?

If you have an aftermarket Head unit putting out even average power you will be blown away with the Focal Components! As a suggestion i would put some sound deadening material in when you do it. I did not and regret it every day.

Back to the speakers, i think that the 165 KFs are similar to my KVs but the KVs may have an upgraded tweeter? As long as you ask the right questions on eBay you can get good deals on these speakers that are authentic Focal. Ask for a copy of the receipt and where they were purchased.

I have been running my KVs off my Eclipse 5495 Head unit and get Kudos with every passenger. I am actually still contemplating weather or not to spend the money to install a Focal FP amp
