“I eat diff’s for breakfast” -Boulder

This was a technical section of the trail, that require high clearance, good spotting, and a bit of a squeeze at the end. The only damage were some scraped diff’s (see above photo), and a bit of rear quarter panel damage on Rochmpr’s 5th gen.

(This is where I stopped being a photographer, and became a spotter)

Looks like a really fun day. How was Corral Hallow with a non lifted rig? I am new to off-roading and am looking for some easier trails to start with. I am also in the Bay Area and it looks like you know where some awesome spots are.

Mtn4rnr is non-lifted. If you enter from big meadow, I think it's easier than the entrance from bear valley. We enter from bear valley and my buddy 4x2 tacoma made it up there. You just have to take your time and pick the right line.

I must have just missed you guys. I was camping at Utica Resv on Thursday night. Found an awesome dispersed campsite 5ft from the lake. I drove up to Slick Rock and after walking the first 300 yards to scope it out, I chickened out. I wanted to drive Corral Hallow, but my kid got motion sickness so no go.

Beautiful country up there and only 3.5 hours from mid-peninsula.

Awesome documentation as always Max! Utica is a great place to relax, the kids loves it there. Slick rock to terrifying for me but I wouldn't mind tagging along in the passenger seat. =) [MENTION=128325]cutty01[/MENTION] we were there later that week on Sat, camp and did Corral Hollow on Sunday.

Ha, it's a bummer I was on the other side of your rig, I didn't know how close you were until I saw the tree shake. Any luck working that dent out? And yes, I agree, we need to get out again.

Corral Hollow was just fine on the stock suspension. We came up from the Bear Valley side, and like [MENTION=107460]Magnetic4R[/MENTION] said, it is just about picking the right line. I have grown accustomed to having a low chin on trails, and I pick my lines appropriately. Didn't touch the skids :thumb3: Good luck, and enjoy the trails!

Yeah, I knew better than to attempt Slick Rock, ha! Bummer Corral Hollow didn't work out for you, but like you said, it's only a few hours away, so, next time!

I will definitely be back to camp at Utica, and to explore that area more, especially North of highway 4. I have already picked out a few good potential vista points over there that I want to explore. It's funny, I have watched many YouTube videos of Slick Rock, and I still got mixed up because things look way different on the actual trail. And I now understand why many trucks struggle through certain sections on the videos where it doesn't look all that challenging, but in reality they're a whole different beast.

Looks like some pretty epic spots you've found! I recently moved up to Sacramento from SoCal so i will definitely need to check out some of the many trails Tahoe/Plumas/Stanislaus forests have to offer.

If you're ever looking for another person to do a trail run with, i would love to tag along!
