bullett brush guard???

Hello. This is my first post on this board. I have a 2000 Toyota 4Runner Sport Edition that I am giving to my kid. When we bought it, it came with a Westin Sportsman grill guard. My wife crunched it in a fender bender, insurance company replaced it with the rest of the repairs. Two years later, she crashes it again. This time I saved the money they gave us for repairs, decided it caused more damage than protection offered. So, long story short, my son wants the brush guard again. We have searched in vain but cannot find a westin that fits a 2000 sports edition, they all say EXCEPT sports edition. The guy at the custom truck parts store in town thinks if I had a sportsman on there I could probably put another one on, no problems. He also said I could buy a Bullett grill guard, that this was made by Westin at a much lower price. He gave me a part number, gg4003b but I can't find a decent picture of it to compare to the Westin. My question is, has anyone heard of this grill guard, have a pic? Or would you just say go for the Westin? It's his money, just thought I'd help him research. Thanks in advance.

ps- the Hunter looks identical to the Westin. Same mounting points and all. I did a fair amount of research before finally buying.

also, isnt the only real aesthetic difference between the sport edition and base the hood scoop? correct me if im wrong...

Thanks for the info. I did see your post before asking my question. The hunter looks very much like my old Westin. I'd have to search for some pics to be sure. I'm leaning towards the Westin because I've had a couple already (ouch) and removed the last one after her last bender. Is the hunter one piece? You said Westin doesn't make the Sportsman for the 2000 4runner but I have found it on a couple of websites. My local guy has one for about $50 less than I've found online. I'd still like to find the Bullett brand, though, since it is about$150 bucks less. I'll keep searching. Looks like my son is going to be getting into an expensive hobby, he wants to do a safari rack, lights, stereo, etc. All on a lifeguard salary!

I've never heard that a brush guard will not fit a sports model. There is nothing different other than the scoop.

Yeah, that's what I find weird. Just google a Westin for a 2000 4runner, every sportsman I find has excluding Sport Edition. Other than the scoop and seat insignia, I don't know what the difference would be. I even called Westin's customer service number, she looked it up and confirmed it excluded the Sport Edition. So, no one has seen a Bullett? The guy at my local shop said it was a rebranded Westin but I can't find it anywhere. Thanks for all the quick responses!

They only say excluding sport models because the 2001-2002 4Runner Sport Editions came with those fancy skid plates, which makes Westin think that you can't add on one of their brush guards simply because of this factory skid plate.

thanks kellyj, that makes sense. Thanks for the info. So, would you go for the Westin or save $150 and bite the Bullett?
