I'm bummed that the Bully Dog GT T+ for Toyotas doesn't apply to '09 4Runners (yet). Here's hoping BD broadens the applications.

I take it you just watched Trucks.
I can't lie, I checked out Bully Dogs website too and was bummed to see they still don't support our 4.7 engine.

I missed the episode, but saw on the Tundra site a few weeks back about BD support.
Email them and ask if they plan on supporting pre-2010 4Runners, I did.
It takes a market//need to get support. Doesn't hurt to ask...
Since they've cracked the Toyota 1's and 0's, it shouldn't be too difficult for them at this point.

Funny thing is, on Trucks!, they showed an '08 or '09 4Runner in the segment which is what got my attention. One P/N for both the Tundra and the 4Runner. Another thing is that the Tacomas still have the "old" 1GR -- solid cam tappets/spin-on filters version -- as do the '09-down 4Runners and FJs. I'm certain all-years FJ owners would welcome an application as well.

That says not much. Elaborate. Are you saying Bully Dog's new Toyota tuner doesn't deliver on its claims? Or causes other problems?

New to the site here, but not new to tuners/ECM tuning...
I can only speak for the GM side of things, having come from a Duramax, but you'd be hard pressed to find GM guys running the Bully Dog tuner. It's a box tuner that doesn't have full control of the ECM. You don't see much, if any, gain from this tuner like you would with EFI.
I'm not sure about toyotas, and more specifically 4runners, but I don't know how much untapped potential there really is with these motors. If there is substantial gains to be had you will need to be able to control every variable when it comes engine mapping/tuning. Something Bully dog has not succeeded with in the GM world (In part because of the new ECM's).

Make no mistake, I'm not gonna drop a grand anytime soon for Bully Dog's tuner until there're a bunch of people who collectively agree that there're some gains. The supercharged people (Tacomas and Tundras) seem impressed.

Went to sema this year and talked to the people at bully dog. They are supposedly in the midst of cracking the ECM code so they can begin the tuning process. It's just a matter of time before it should appear. The reason why it took so long in the first place for making a Toyota tuner is because the process of cracking the codes was a tedious and time consuming process.
