Bumper Building

So I was looking into building a bumper for my 4runner, front and back. I was thinking tube in the back and either tube or plate in the front. I have everything needed (tube bender, welding supplies, etc....). Just thinking if anyone had any ideas or could post some pics of yours just to get an idea of what to do

I'm going for a stealth look. Once my kids will be 25 I'll probably finally have time to finish it.... lol

I started with a trailgear winch mount. It's pretty strong. Holes are all in the right place already, no need to figure out where to align where holes for bolts are to go.

I did use a 4xinnovation.com bumper reinforment plate too.

Next I'll probably just use some square tube or channel and plate and build off of it. Paint it black or Id like to bolt my chrome bumper back on to give it the stealth stock look. But more forward, at level with the fairlead not as tucked in as it sits now.

Front and rear bumpers

For the front I started with a TG winch mount plate and 4xinnovations front frame support and just bent some 1 3/4 tube. I cut out all of the center of the grill section to slap the winch in.

For the rear I used Dave's offroad supply rear bumper brackets to mount to the frame and made a TG looking bumper that has higher side protection that allows me to lock the tire carrier to. The tire carrier is a swing down using TG 1.75 ID tube on a 1.5 OD tube to allow the carrier to swing down. The carrier is held up by 1" solid pins that slide into poly bushings.

^ That tire carrier looks like its killing your departure angle. But I dig the design!

I did use a 4xinnovation.com bumper reinforment plate too.

Thats a MUST if you plan on winching with the bumper. 4xI also make brackets to aide with the rear bumper.

Mines off the TG winch mount, frame braced of course.

I also thought it might kill my departure angle, but I have yet to catch it on anything. I mainly built it so I can get the tire out of the cargo area and put the kids in jump seats in the back. I can unbolt the carrier in like 2 minutes if I don't need it on that day too. If I had put it any higher it would be blocking my view out the rear.
