Bumper paint question?

I have a 97' 4Runner and I would like to paint my dark grey bumpers black. For those of you that have done this what paint did you use and how is it holding up? I will use SEM products (rattle can) on the urethane lower but would like something more durable on the steel, perhaps a single stage paint with a hardner. Any thoughts? Thanks for the help.

It will look good for 3-6 months and then fade. Also note that SEM sells multiple 'grades' of rattle-can paint. Buy the $9 can and it may last a little longer.

I just used Duplicolor brand black on my bumpers and they hold up great... If they start fading then I'll just spray again, only takes a few minutes to tape off my rear bumper.

Best part is when you scrape them, just lightly sand and give it a shot or two, and its good as new :)

Are you talking about painting the gray upper and lower valance ? Or the actual steel part of the bumper ?

I would like to paint both. I will use Bulldog adhesion promoter then one of the SEM products on the lower valance. The upper steel portion is the one I am not sure about.

Thanks- Geo
