Bumper Questions

I'm brand new to the forum and just purchased a 99 4R SR5 last week. My bumpers and grill are chrome and i really want to replace them with black. I've seen a few sites which sell the black items i'm looking for, however, i don't know exactly what to purchase. Such as: Do i need new mounting brackets?

I was also wondering if there was any way i could replace the grey plastic piece on top and under the bumper in the front, or does it just need to be painted if i want it color matched...

I would love a recomendation of a reputable online store.

is your 4runner black? because they make 2 different black bumpers, the flat black one and then the color matched bumper that looks alot nicer. you can send yours in and have it painted if you want, but if you do decide to purchase a whole new one then i imagine you could use the same brackets from your stock bumper. also the plastic piece can be painted as well.

Yes, mine is black. I would want the non-black parts to be as color matched as possible. Which way of doing this would be least expensive. Also, do you have a recomendation on where to have this done?

you just need to find out if you can buy the parts painted. if theyre unpainted, find out how much a body shop will charge to paint them. then find out how much it will be to paint your current bumper black.

then youll find whats cheapest and easiest.

lucky for you, you have a 99 which has the newere style bumper so getting a color matched 01 or 02 would work for you.
