Alright, so I picked up a 4runner about 8 months ago. 95 SR5. Thing is in great condition. 175K on the odometer and the gentlemen I bought it from had just rebuilt the motor. new heads and all top end gaskets, new water pump/timing chain, etc. Runs like a champ. put about 6 thousand on it since i bought it and haven't found a problem yet. No crazy mods, K&N intake, 2.5" exhaust from the collector, magnaflow cat and flowmaster t40. 31/10.50/15 Futura M/T's. First problem I need to tackle is the dreaded rear end sag. Gonna pick up some new springs and set of spacers. Wondering if there is any suggestions you guys have, or issues that are common with these etc. taken it out to play int he dirt a few times and in a couple weeks a few friends and I are going out on a camping trip involving some pretty fun trials. Nothing requiring any narly rock crawling or extreme off road abilities but I'm curious about what mods are common on these that are not insanely costly to do and actually make a difference. My apologies if I sound like a rookie but quite frankly I am. Any input or information you could provide is appreciated. Thanks.

Yotatech has a really good cheap/free mods thread. Buying used manual hubs, is cheap ($100) and will make a pretty big difference on and off the trail. Allowing you to stay locked in reverse, while also helping you avoid CV wear (staying unlocked while on the road). You will need a 26 spine Aisin Manual Hub for Toyota IFS.

4Crawler Off Road is also a very good place to start. 4Crawler Offroad Products

Or if you have a 5speed you never lose 4x4 in reverse. If you don't want to switch over to manual hubs you can add an ADD switch so you can ingage your front diff when you want. Lifts a common land cruiser coils in rear and ball joint spacers in front. Front or rear lockers are common. Light bars and light upgrades in general.

Appreciate the info...didn't realize locking hubs were something to upgrade to. Thought the ones on mine were stock. I do have an auto but with manual lockers it shouldn't matter right? As far as using the land cruiser coils....I am assuming I need the same year? and how difficult are the ball joint spacers to install? I've changed ball joints before but never put spacers in any.

It's not much harder than doing ball joints, actually it is pretty easy, you will have to cut out part of your A-Arm to make sure the spacer fits correctly. For the coils, as long as they are from a fj80 you will be good, although there is height variations depending on what trim model they came off of.
