The front nose dive is mainly for car-truck/SUV crash compatibility. This is why you see it on all new SUVs.
I would recommend the 1" spacer front lift IF leveling out the 4runner is your only purpose. This should have minimal effects on CV wear. However, if you really want the best for your CVs, then keep it stock and learn to love the nose dive.
Another option (which i think is a great idea also) is replacing your front springs and shocks with those from FJ Cruiser 4wd models. I hear that these FJ components provide a small lift and should not hurt anything because the 4runner and FJ share the same front suspension components otherwise (except that FJ has smaller front anti-roll bar). This was done recently by a fellow forum member...you may want to do a search.
