Burn rubbrer smell at high speed?

I pushed the peddle to 95mph today and smelled a burn rubber type smell coming from somwhere. no way it was the road cause i got off the freeway and it still smelled til I slowed down to a stop then the smell gradually went away. Any thoughts on what u might think it is.

I did notice before that sometimes while driving normal grayish smoke comes somewhere from the manifold area or heat shield somewhere cant really pin point cause its too tight to really tell. Could it be that issue you think.

Any thoughts is appreciated.

Check and see if something is laying next to the exhaust manifold. Are you sure it's a rubber smell? Could be just oil leaking from the valve covers. A common smell inducer.

sounds like it could be...

check your rear axle seals-inside of your rear wheels and just be sure you don't have any leakage going on back there.

But I agree with kball you probably just have some valve cover leakage allowing oil to drip on the exhaust .

And don't judge just from a one time experience. Any chance a nearby roofing job or in industrial area? If it happens consistently then continue your search in earnest.

And 95 of course is too fast for our type of rides and you can be sure none of us has ever done this... heeheeee:jaw drop:

our 01 does it every trip to montana i believe it is the rubber hangers on the exhaust getting toasty.
