Burned fog light connector

I have 2004 4runner Sports Edition. I change my fog light bulbs, and it burned bulb connector. If I change it to stock light bulb and bring it to dealer, you guys think they are gonna fix it under the warranty? What do you guys think?

Chances are they are not going to fix it, because i tried that too. Burnt mines running 80 watt low beams and 100 watt high beams. Made no sense should of gone with Hid kits from jump. I don't think any dealer going to believe that the stock bulbs burnt the sockets,but you never know if you don't try. They tried to charge me $1200 for the whole wiring each sides. YIKES!!!!! One wiring connects the low beam,high beam and I thnik the fog light as well. What i did before trading my old 4runner was cut the burnt sockets and splice in new ones tape up real good. Only you would know the where cut. Good Luck!!!

Just curious about what type/wattage bulb you put in the fog lights that caused it to burn the connector?

It was Nokya Yellow 9006 70W. If I put it back, you think it's gonna burn my connector again?

Seems like some are using the 80W bulbs without any reports of problems. Wonder if there will be a problem down the road.
I want more light, but don't feel real good about using anything higher than 55W.

After reading this thread I went and checked mine. First off I'd like to say that I really like these lights. They are 80w ion yellow from Supreme Power Parts. But when I touched the socket after driving with them on for a while I burnt my fingertips. I am going to order the same bulb but in a 55w. I do like the yellow.

Anyone want to buy a set of 80w bulbs??

The liberal use of dielectric grease/compound on the connector pins will reduce allot of heat. I run 100/130w bulbs (with no problems) on my motorcycle when others (with the same bike) have had problems with 80w.

Yes (Imo) down the road the sockets will eventually burn. I wouldn't take that chance again. Better safe then sorry. $1200 dollar wire set for each side is rediculous.:awais:
