Burns oil when it starts

I have an 87 4Runner and every time when i start it up it burns a little oil and while I'm pulling out in reverse. After a little it goes away unless I'm sitting for a while. Got any ideas?

This is usually due to worn valve guide seals which allow oil to seep down the valves into the combustion chamber while it sits. I would say replace the valve guide seals.

Yep, that's the typical sign of bad valve guide seals. They harden and shrink from heat and age.

so change them while your in there might wanna do the head gaskets
