Burnt out my Instrumental Panel Light, Help!

I just recently installed an aftermarket deck myself. After the deck was installed, when I was driving at night and I switched my headlights on, my instrumental lights (where the gauges were) would turn off. In the morning, the linstumental lights would be okay. This started to annoy me so I went back into the sytem and I disconnected the "dimmer" wires. I turned on the car and accidently and I think I accidently shorted the dimmer wires (the wires were exposed(stupid me)) so I checked all the fuses and one was burnt out so I replaced the fuse. But now even when the car headlights aren't even turned on, the instrumental light won't turn on. What is wrong? How can i fix it? Please Help. Thanx
