Burst trans cooler

I have a 98 SR5, and this is the second time the trans cooler has burst flooding the cooling system with trans fluid, yuck.

Should I just replace the radiator/trans cooler or will I need to flush the trans and cooling system out too?

Whats the best radiator to be sure this does not happen again? And is there anything I should check to make sure its not a problem occurring because of something else like the trans?

I had the same thing happen this week and need to know if I need to have the transmission flushed along with the cooling system too? Hopefully this bump up will get somebody to reply to our questions.

That sucks. I'd suggest you separate the two systems from here on. Get a large trans cooler and mount it up front of the rad and ac condenser. Then find a decent rad, possible oem for a manual trans and you wont have the same problem again. Try rock auto.com as an aftermarket source or partznet.com for oem.

As for flushing the trans, have someone drop the pan to see if there is any coolant in there. Then you can make your decision to flush.
