I just installed this product from Burtman Industries.
It was extremely simple to install. My only issue was having to get up once I got underneath the 4R to get a breaker-bar. I needed a breaker bar to loosen the bolts holding the rear tow hooks under my 4R. The fit and finish were excellent. It took a total of about 15-20 minutes to unwrap and install.
It will provide rear bumper protection agains items like run away grocery carts in parking lots, or kids running into the rear of the vehicle on their bikes, or any other sort of light obstacle that is backed into or hits the vehicle from behind. My only quip is that I don't think that this thing will withstand me repeatedly (in the long run) climbing on/off it to load/unload my bikes on my roof rack. I'm about 205 lbs, so if you're heavier than me, I don't know if it will support your weight, especially if you are loading something also. That's not really a big deal anyway since I don't put all my weight on the bar itself when I'm climbing on the back of my 4R anyway.
However, for under $200 and considering how easy it was to install, I'm more than happy with it. Plus, it looks cool! This is a quality product from a quality vendor. This was my second purchase from Burtman, and I haven't been disappointed. I highly recommend burtman industries.com for your 4runner needs.
