Busy and fun last week

So last week I did a few mods and maintenance items on my 203k mile 98. 2 weeks ago bought and modded two first gen roll bars, one for me and one for Flyte. I have more mods planned for my roll bar so have not touched up the paint or bolted it in until Friday the 5th.

Tuesday 3rd 9pm-midnight- Installed Aussie Locker
Wed was a bum and nothing
Thursday - replaced Lower Ball Joints and both CV axles
Friday- Finally bolted in roll bar prior to packing camping gear for 48th Annual Tierra Del Sol Desert Safari. 1500 vehicles registered this year. 100 vendors displaying their wares and over 130k in raffle prizes.

Plans for Roll bar prior to paint are as follows: weld and make brackets to hold CO 2 tank. Weld angle iron to inside of triangle opposite of air tank to bolt subwoofer box to. Yes I plan on making a sub enclosure to fit inside the legs of the roll bar with cone facing out (to protect from damage of anything in cargo) Then paint and re-install.

I will get pis off current status of roll-bar up soon but here are some of Proud Runner at TDS

someone's been busy!

nice work! can't wait to see the roll bar all finished up...may have to steal that sub enclosure idea from you....

Can't wait to see the roll bar. I just picked one up a couple days ago. May weld some brackets on to hold the hi-lift and mag light.

Looks like fun, I'm excited to see your roll bar too, Pikeman! Any word on the T4R meet this weekend? Still at the Hat at 12:00? I'm wondering if some of us are gonna do a little wheelin afterwards. Nice pics of Proudrunner too, I take it he's fabbing up his own rear bumper?

He wanted to fab his own rear bumper to gain the ground clearance and protection. I will be trying to get together with him to address some of the design/ structural issues. It should end up real close to the way my back bumper looks. Each time I wheel with him I am more impressed with how quick he is learning and growing in comfort with wheeling.

Sorry couldnt get pics of my rollbar tonight since it was my sons 4th birthday. I will take some on my lunch break tomorrow and post up when i get home from work.

Had a great time at tds here are some shots of pikeman runner.

The Jeep Cherokee wanted to join us since he started off about 5 trucks behind and wanted to use our lines. Said we were making it look nice and easy. Which since most of trail was laid out by a shorter wheelbase jeep the articulation was a real work out at time.
