Like most 4Runners, I have the rusted out rear chrome bumper pieces (on the drivers side).

My idea was to buy all new factory bumper pieces (approx. $300), black not chrome.

Thinking of Rhino lining all pieces, then doing the same for the front. Something different. Honestly, I do not see myself doing extreme offroading in the future, beside those bumpers are very costly.

I thought I would also mount these babies to the front factory bumper.

What do you think? Pics will follow.

I wouldn't mount those to the stock bumper. That things gets tapped and the light is going to either get hit, or hit something else when the bumper deflects.

Check out the guys that have mounted them in their grille's (like blcktpgsr). That looks really cool and offers some better protection.

X2. If you don't think you will knock them off then put them where you feel you will get the most use.

I think you will find the black end pieces are too short for your truck. I am not 100% sure, but I believe they are made to end before the wider flares that you don't have. I have the same trim as you do and I would love a definitive answer on this.

I think you are paying too much for those bumper pieces. You don't need Toyota for this part, there are plenty of aftermarket options at 1/2 the price.

those hellas will shake around if you ever go off road unless you get aftermarket bumper. mine did at least.

They are the same size as the chrome ones but they do have holes to mount the limited flares.

Check Craigslist for them.

As far as lights on the front bumper. I had my KC pencil beams and they would bounce while wheeling. The stock front bumper is pretty flimsy. A fog beam shouldn't be too bad. There isn't a ton of real estate for mounting lights on the bumper.

Don't waste your money on expensive off-road lights. Try these:

I've used them around town, in Moab up in the rocks, and across the country on the interstates (just not when other cars are oncoming).

They work great, are basically disposable, and if you crack one up 4wheeling, then it's not a big loss. The light works great, and it's 100W. You could buy ten of these for what one Hella costs.

I also had the rusty rear bumper but mine was on the back faceplate part, not the side panels. I replaced it with a piece from usautoparts its pretty much the same but for half the price as OEM. The fit isnt 100% OEM but its better than rust. I primed and painted the inner part side of the chrome with Rustolem spray paint, I coated my whole undercarriage with it also and it seems to be holding up really well.

I think you should get a pre-runner bar.

They can be found or made pretty cheap. I only paid $90 for my old one plus $50 to have it mounted.

This is how mine were mounted. I think the extra weight probably made my lights bounce more.

I wish I had the funds to just buy an aggressive bumper, but this should be a good start. I really do not see myself going offroad a great deal. I just want to drive this beast for miles and miles. Thanks for the input, I'll post some pics once I get things started.:banana:
