Button between window switch and coin holder

Anybody know what it does? It has a green light inside. I can push it up and down and feel it clicking but I have no clue what its for.

Nah bro, it initiates the flux capacitor.

It's the ECT (electronically controlled transmission) button, it basically changes the shift points to let the engine rev out a little higher before shifting.

OH that makes sense... Since the 4Runner can't hit 88 mph, it's normally not an issue.

edit: but in all seriousness... he has a manual. can't be the ECT unless someone swapped in another console?

But then why would it light up? It wouldn't have the original connection..

So I checked today trying to get my rear window to go back up.... I do not have a lock button down there. no plate either. Got a picture?

My 92 doesn't have a lock button on it but my 88 did. I took out my plates and installed switches for my lights. I used the deck lamp switch from my 88.
This probably won't help you but this is mine.
I probably should have cleaned it up before taking a picture but oh well.

if it is like mine , the rear window locks when you lock the rest of the windows by pushing the button on the driver side door. the only thing i can think of that button being is the ECT , but then I have an automatic

Mine's an auto, '86. The norm/ECT button is directly below the gear selector, and the three buttons below that are rear window washer, window lock, and window up/down.

What do I win?
