buttons RDS, Traff, Type???

What are these buttons for???? I read the manual but still dont know what they are for.

Radio Data Station= what do we need this for...is this like public radio or something.

Traffic= i guess in Hawaii we dont have a traffic station because it never finds one.

Type= I know this changes the RDS type of music, but what is it for?


Tell me what/why you use these buttons?

RDS pulls info such as the call letters of the station, the station name and depending if the station makes the info available, artist and song title. This has worked for me if the station makes the info available to know what song they are playing.

I'm not sure about Traffic and Type, but I think stations need to categorize themselves for those two to function. Pressing these buttons just gets me static in my area.

RDS - What Uneek said

Traffic - I believe certain RDS enabled stations also have a designation if they report traffic. If you press that traffic button the radio will scan until it find one of those stations.

Type - I think you can select a type of music (country, rock, classical) and your radio will scan all of the RDS enabled stations to find that type of music.

I personally like the RDS option for the song artist/title info. I really never use the other buttons.

Thanks guys.

When I press the RDS button, I only get a heavy metal and a classical station. I am thinking that Hawaii isn't up to date with categorizing their radio stations.
