Buying a 4Runner Sport

Hey guys, new member here. My previous car just got totaled and am pretty much settled on getting the 4Runner sport, so I figured this would be the best place to ask some ?s. I am from the Chicago suburb area and just wanted to know what all of you have been paying for your V6 4x4 sports, either Out the door or before tax, title fees. I got a real good deal on my accord when I bought it because of the generous help from forum members like you, and would like to do the same now. I know invoice is 27918, and there is a 900 rebate. I bought my accord a couple hundred below invoice two years ago, and do you guys think I can get the 4Runner for about 27000 not including taxes? I emailed a lot of the dealers in the area and only two have responded with ridiculous quotes of over 29000 before taxes. Thanks for your help

Hope you get a 4Runner. I love mine. A couple of things, what are the options on the one you want. Is it new or used. Good website to check is www.edmunds.com. I got some help there and here. I payed 29,000 out the door. Tax, title, tags. So it depends on your dealer, your negotiation skills, and what is installed on the vehicle. Good luck.
 
i paid invoice plus tags and taxes.some have said they did better but many have also paid more.i think if u find a truck u want and get it at invoice your doing fine. late in the model year u may do better but than if u have a trade you'll get bare minimum.i paid invoice and got what i wanted for my trade and i'm happy. the truck is by far the best vehicle i have ever owned.toyota is THE way to go.

The sport comes with the options that I pretty much want. It includes running boards, the grey interior, 17" wheels, and a roof rack. The only option Im considering is a sunroof and the spoiler, but it's not absolutely necessary. Edmunds had an invoice of 27,918 for the sport edition and I know that there is the 900 rebate so Im hoping I can get it around 27000 barebones (no other options) Maybe 27500 with the spoiler. Im just a little angry because three dealers have emailed me ridiculous price quotes of 29,3xx plus tax for a sport with spoiler, and sunroof, exhaust tip which In my opinion is complete B.S. The only other car Im considering is the new Xterra which is alot cheaper, but I think the 4Runner is a much better truck. So if anybody near the NW chicago area has any good experience with a particular Toyota dealer that they reccommend I'd appreciate it, along with some more price quotes. Im just disappointed that I have a Scion tC in the house and a new corolla and both dealers that I got these cars from are trying to screw me on the price. Sorry had to vent and thanks for any input and additional help! You guys are awesome and I hope Ill have a 4Runner in the driveway soon.

I was told by dealers in St. Louis that they all come with Sun roofs and JBL audio systems. Is this true.
What would be a reasonable price with the above mentioned options (including rear spoiler, floor mats), OTD excluding tax, title & registration.

I got my 4Runner Sport, V8, 4WD, in late 02, just after the trucks came out. And I got invoice from Schaumburg Toyota. Sometimes they can try to mess you around, but they finally came down to invoice.

hmm thats weird, I put the same information as you have listed there (including the zip) and got a quote of 28,656 showing an invoice of 29,081. if i can get it near the 27,656 i would probably jump on it and just deal wih cars direct.

FALSE! Carsdirect.com doesn't owned any cars nor dealerships. It's the midleman who works as a hook-up connection, between you (The buyer) and your local dealers that stock the vehicle matched your requested vehicle description. Sometime the range of operation (locate a vehicle) can be up to 200 miles radius from your zip code. Their given price is practicly fair for those who doesn't have time to negotiate or don't know how to negotiate. I did use this method while searching for my 4Runner, and they found my vehicle located 10 minutes from where I live. Here is what they have :

LizardKing! You're totally right. What I mean " FALSE" was, you can only get a fair deal from them, but never be a REALLY GOOD DEAL. It's understandable since they're not control the price, the dealer does. However, it seems to be convenience b/c they do most of the work, even get the dealer to delivers the vehicle to your door.
 
Have you tried carmax.com? They have a new car dealer in Chicago and their prices are all set...no haggling...Go to carmax.com, then to new cars, then to Toyota and you'll see what new 4Runners they have and the final price. Good luck.....
 
Ok I tried carmax, but they dont have the car that I want, LOL. They have a sport at a decent price, but its a V8. This purchase is starting to give me a headache, I see everyone getting great deals on their 4Runners, but every dealer I talk to wont budge below 29000. One dealer in Evanston even had the nerve to call my email offensive when I told him his 30,300 quote INCLUDING the 900 current rebate on a stock Sport V6 4x4 with sunroof was ridiculous. I really gotta get this car within two weeks and it seems none of these dealers in Chicago are serious. I know I am not paying 30000 + taxes for a sport, thats for sure. Even the nissan dealer was giving me a new Xterra at 200 over invoice, and thats a brand new model in fairly high demand. But I just like the 4Runner a lot more, even though the Xterras price and features are attractive. Any thoughts?

Yeah, the same sort of thing happens to me when I go gambling in Vegas. I always end up losing money but whenever I hear someone else talking its about how much money they won. I just don't understand how the gambling houses can make a profit when I am the only person that ever loses money there.
 
Haha, I hear ya buddy. Normally I would just wait it out till I found the right deal, but this whole accident thing happened unexpectedly, so Im kinda in a crunch. You all know whats gonna happen too, is when I buy a car (hopefully the 4R) Im gonna either find the exact one waaay cheaper or something like that. Always happens! '05 Xterra is second choice for now...
 
Well guys, I bought her yesterday afternoon! 2005 4Runner Sport in Titanium. Got it for about 400 under invoice and he threw in the exhaust tip, sport pedals, saftey kits, and double decker cargo system. The ride is great and Im really excited to own it. Pictures will be up soon. Had only one mile on it, and already found a scratch! Takin her back tommorrow. Thanks for the help u guys gave.

Just rent a car for a few weeks until you find what you really want? You can rent an Echo, sorry, for probably $125/week with unlimited miles. You won't feel rushed.

Xterra is not comparable to the Runner. Both are a truck, but refinement and association ends there. In the end it is your decision and opinion of vehicle choices, all is good.

What is the cost of your 4R.
Do you have a sunroof?
I am planning to buy one.
