Buying a 99 4x4 limited tomorrow

Yesterday I put down a deposit on a rather clean 99 limited from an older woman in Scottsdale, AZ. I'm super excited and pretty much knew I was buying it as soon as I drove it. After looking for a nice 4R for about a year now and a 95 4x4 I've found what I'm looking for. This looks like a great forum and I'm excited to contribute until the trusty 3.4 dies:party:

oh god now my dad calls me and says there is a 2002 4x4 sport for the same price with 30k less miles...pending seeing it sounds like an easy decision.
 
Thats a tough one, but I think personally I would go with the 99...in case you were sitting there waiting on my opinion! HAHAHA...:lol:

...but do you have a roof rack? Can't tell...

Any suggestions on the roof racks? I just had my subs amp, new head unit and 6 speakers installed...Needless to say the 3rd gen stock equipment is severely lacking in the audio department.
 
I like my thule, very versatile, I have bike, board, and basket attachments depending on the sporting time of year!!

oh and nice ride!!
 
I like the Rola rack. Fairly inexpensive and looks great. One of the best features is that it covers up almost the entire roof.

Your truck is f^&king beautiful dude!!!! I want the bull bumper...what is it called? Baja rack looks interesting, as does Thule...Snowboarding is my main purpose and will need to fit 4 full bags on the top..Guessing either work with a couple tie downs.
 
hey thanks man it's an arb bull bar for a tacoma it's one of the nicest cheapest proper bull bars out there, there are nicer ones (kinda of nicer depends on taste) from shrockworks and other companies but the price difference (about 400-500 more) and leads times (some S long as 6 months) on the other ones that are made just for the 3rd gen 4runners swayed me into going with this one, it's a very straight forward and simple mod if you know how to use a swazall and can remove to little plates it's pretty much bolt on from there, cost for this arb bumper retail is about $800 you can find them cheaper if you look hard and long enough took me about 1-2 hours to have it mounted up,

when you say snowboard bags you talking about gear bags or or actual snowboards in bags? if your looking to actually fit the length of a snowboard inside of the rack it would be best to measure the length of the board and compare it to any rack your looking at and go with the one thats going to work the rola racks are very nice and the gobi's are the nicest imo but very $$$ i think both rola and gobi makes some sweet ladders to go with the racks but i heard one of the companies discontinued them or they are made to order, i'll let the guys who actually have them tell you about the ladders and what they think of those rack, i just think the thule mega warrior is a darn good rack for the money and has as a good amount of add-on's for various other things.


and as always use the search function go to the advanced drop down and pick 3rd gen and start typing what your looking for all of this has been covered in great detail as alot of these guys on here are really on top of their game, me not so much i have the basic ideas down and know the things i have personally done but beyond that i'm just like you looking for help from some of the great guru's we have on this forum!
