My father works with asurgeon who is known to do something similar. He buys year-old leased toyota, drives it a year or two, and trades up with almost no cash into the newer one. Though almost no cash is different for a surgeon than it would be for most people.

My neighbors look at me strangely also, I've switched a few times last year.
