Hi,
I've been looking for the last two weeks for a clean 2003-2006 4runner Sport Edition (ideally a sunroof and non-functional hood scoop.)Ideally a 2005-2006 v6 (5speed) for gas savings. My budget is around 14k, so it would have higher mileage (probably in the 90-110k range). If it's 2003-2004 then I'd want the V8 Limited or SR5 (not thrilled about the plastic cladding).
I know someone that has a 2003 black Sport Edition 4x4 v8 with under 40k miles for sale. I've talked to the guy, apparently it's his father in law's and he rarely drives it.
The issue is I really don't like the plastic cladding two tone look on the black ones (I think its fine on the silver). I did however find someone on this forum that plasti-dipped the cladding and it looks better but do I really want to do that forever? I dunno. I've heard painting them isn't a good idea. And the v8 is a gas hog (although I only work 2 miles for home which makes up for it, but i take road trips sometimes and do weekend drives). Also the 2005 got a bump in horses on the v8 so i feel like if i go that route, why not wait for an '05.
My question is, would you wait it out and get the one you like but with higher mileage or the lower mileage one but not as aesthetically pleasing to you. We're talking a big mileage difference here. I'm getting a good deal on it so I might just jump on it. Talk me into it, talk me out of it! *I don't have all the time in the world is the issue.. I'm driving my Grandpas '03 Sport 4runner and he wants it back.
