Buying in Canada?

So iv been looking around for a 99 or 00 highlander for the past few months and realized I'm only a few hours from BC -duuuuuhhhh

I did a quick search and didn't really see anything I needed to jump on, but I got me thinking. What the issues be in buying a truck in Canada? I'm from Washington, by the way.

Obviously the KM to miles conversion and the money conversions, but other than that, are there any other issues? Licensing, getting it across the border, ect?

You'll have to import the vehicle into the US, what's involved in that I can't say, may depend on your state for some things. I've imported vehicles into Canada from the US and from Japan, but never into the US.

In my experience importing from the US, I had to fax a copy of the bill of sale to the port of entry 48 hours prior to bringing the vehicle through, pay GST and AC taxes at the border, and if the vehicle was newer than 15 years old you need to put it through the RIV process and inspection, as well as provincial safety inspection. That said, again I have no idea what is needed to import into the US, I know you have a 25 year rule in place of our 15 year rule for off-shore imports, but that's about it.

25 year rule in the US only matters for cars that don't meet US safety and Emmissions standards at the time in which the vehicle was built, you can import a vehicle from Canada no problem it can even be RHD if you wanted that, there will probably be a good amount of paperwork to fill out though.

I'm ok with paperwork if it means I can find a highlander 5 spd, but I could find one in Florida too, so it's all a wash.

25 year rule in the US only matters for cars that don't meet US safety and Emmissions standards at the time in which the vehicle was built, you can import a vehicle from Canada no problem it can even be RHD if you wanted that, there will probably be a good amount of paperwork to fill out though.

If you find a RHD in Canada, that means it was imported from somewhere else, and if it's less than 25 years old, you still can't import it from Canada to the US, no matter how much paperwork you fill out.:

Eh, I wouldn't want a RHD anyway. No mail delivery for me...
