You guys are right about that third row being folded. My daughter is 12 and loves riding in the back with one side folded for her dog the WGS to sit next to her. That's about it really. I would actually would love the crawl control feature.

None of the 4Runners come with remote start standard, it is a port/dealer option. The OEM Toyota remote start is probably the only one that can be wired up to the existing key fob. It can be added by the dealership or purchased separately and you or a 3rd party shop could install it. However since it relies on the existing radio in the fob it has a pretty short range... I think the official distance is 80 feet but I've heard people complain that it's actually a lot less.

Actually, aftermarket units can also be set up to work with the OEM remote.

I just installed a Compustar in mine, and opted to go for a 1 mile range 2 way remote....I love it. IMO, having a remote starter that is limited to the range of the OEM remote is pretty pointless.

Thanks everyone for your replies! Very helpful. First off the pricing reflects what Cheeser said although you cant really look at the options online / I dont trust salesmen to tell me the truth.....I dont care for or want the KDSS sytem.

As for adding the ARB the only warranty that would be affected would be the rear axle. Toyota rear axles are some of the best built systems on the road and have been for many decades. Ive run them in rock crawlers with 39.5" Red Label BFG tires and have yet to break one. Thanks Tnine for the comment about yours and ATRAC.....sounds very doable and we could add ARB later if needed/wanted. I rarely turn mine on in my Tacoma.

I may be weird but I like the knob on the dash. I put alot of miles on my Taco going to work in Oklahoma and when I hit what appears to be ice or slick I slow down below 60 and turn the knob just like Im turning up the heat. 10 years ago I woulda never said this but justs seems easier to me.

I dont care what wheels come on it....wish I could get 15" steelies as they are coming off for upgrade. Bumpers and such will likely be replaced at some point and the roof rack stuff will be covered up with a Gobi. Unless there is still something missed the Trail isnt worth it for us if indeed there are none available without KDSS.

KDSS is "standard" in Colorado. You won't find a new Trail without it, unless you special order.

FYI, I bought mine at Mountain States Toyota and had a good experience.

Ill stand by my comment.....GIMMICK! Ive built several rock crawlers. Toyotas with dual tcases and 4.7 rear box.....thats CRAWL CONTROL. Not something that sounds like its ripping the vehicle apart!

So the 3rd row.....is that standard in the Sr5? Does it fold up in the floor or how does it work? I dont want to loose cargo room.

As for ARB seals and salt....they dont salt the roads in BV. Havent seen salt anywhere in this area. I do see it between Raton and Clayton, NM when I drive to work.

It is a crutch for experience. Is it useful? Sure. Can an experienced driver accomplish the same thing? Absolutely. It's just cruise control for off road. Is it a "gimmick?" Not really but it does take away from the skill level required to navigate the terrain without any aids. I had it on my '12 TE and never used it but I learned how to drive without anything like that.

Since the OP said he thinks A-Trac will be good enough, and he is willing to add ARB's in the future if needed, I would say that Crawl Control doesn't make sense for him.

Where are you getting this info from? From what I can find even the TRD Pro wheels are only 17x7", although according to TRD's website they do have a different offset for wider stance. I can't imagine stock Trail wheels would be wider than the TRD Pro wheels.

I don't have a pic of my TE wheels right now, but they are definitely 7.5.

I just got a dose of humble pie, found one of my local Toyota Dealer's "Discount" parts sites. SR5 is 17x7, Trail 17x7.5 (7 spoke and "Alcoa" style), TRD Pro 17x7. Which seems odd since they all come with 265/70's.

I forget that I'm a noob again after having the same vehicle for the past 10 years and actually have to look stuff up again. There is a TON of info here and sometimes its a little overwhelming. I have to remember I'm not just in the parking lot at a meet having a conversation
