Buying used 4th gen

I am currently looking for a 4th gen 4runner. I wanted to buy new, but the prices are just out of my league.

I am looking into buying either a used 03-04 with no more than 35k miles...maybe 45k on a 03.

I am still undecided as to if iwant the v6 or v8, but my question is, are there any changes between either motor for those years i listed when compared to the current offerings.

Also, in general, is there any concerns i should have when purchasing a used 03-04 model? I am really looking forward to getting somthing new, and this will be a long term purchase, but I have no worries because of course...its a toyota.
As for price, I am just seeing what I can find..I am looking at no more than 20.5k.

V6 model
2003 - Early 2003 models may be affected by a fuel rail recall, 4 speed auto. 245HP/285lb torque
2004 - no changes to V6 engine, comes with a 4 speed auto
2005 - no changes to V6, comes with a 5 Speed Auto

V8
2003 - 235hp/320lb torque, 5 speed auto
2004 - no changes
2005 - VVTI added and boosted performance numbers: 270HP/330lb torque

Early 2003 SR5/SE models came with the grey cladding. Midyear Toyota gave all models color keyed cladding.
