Buzzing sound when making tight turns

I know better than to turn the steering wheel all the way until it hits the stops when making a tight turn. If I do hit the stops, I back off.

The thing is that my power steering makes a light buzzing sound when I turn sharply to the L or R and almost hit the stops. Is that a normal thing for these 4R's, or is there a problem?

I swear that I searched all over and could not find an answer to this. THANKS!

You are getting low on power steering fluid most likely. Perhaps it's just because you're cranking too hard. That sound is coming from the pump itself, my guess.

I checked the PS fluid several times in the past few weeks, and I never crank the steering wheel very hard anyway.

Maybe it's just the way the 2000 SR5 power steering system works and I'm worried about nothing.

Mine started to make the same the same sound a month ago. It began after I did a fast full lock u-turn on very rough pavement. Some days its worse than others. I have a rebuild kit, so I'm going to pull it apart and overhaul it soon.

if that sound occurs only when the steering is turned as sharp as possible then its the power steering pump, i believe thats a common sound on most vehicles when turned that sharp, from my understanding it can burn out your power steering pump by consistently having the steering wheel turned to where its making the sound, if it doesn't do it during normal turns then you should be fine
