Thanks for all the great information I got here. The tech info and install tips were a great help.
But I have traded in my 4Runner on a new Corvette. The deal was just too good to pass up. My local dealer had a new '08 that listed for $50K, was discounted with employee pricing promotion to $43K, and I talked them down to $38K. That's only $2K more than my 4Runner listed for. Iwill reallly miss my 4Runner and wish I could keep both, but that's too much money to bewrapped up in daily drivers, especially since I'm still restoring a '69 Camaro SS. I thik it's the off-roading I will miss the most. My 4Runner Sport V8-4WD was the most competent off road vehicle I have experienced. Of course the Vette is a completely different kind of vehicle, 0-60 in 4.3 sec, 1/4 mile 12.8, top speed 190. Those are very impresive numbers for a car under $40K. Yeah, the quality will never be Toyota. Maybe I should drive slow so parts don't fall off as fast ?
But I will enjoy the 50% better gas mileage. My 4Ruuner is rated at 17mpg hwy (new ratings) while the Corvette gets 25mpg. That's also very impressive for a car with 430hp. The six speed allows the motor to be turning at only 1050 RPM at 50mph. That's what massive torque will do for you.
So...I'll still be checking out all the 4Runners I see on the road, knowing you guys have one of the best 4WDs out there. And if you see a white '08 Vette pass by, give 'em a honk !
