bypassing the radiator and then some

Im ordering Tru Cool Trand Cooler today based on some threads Ive been reading @ yotatech Today! I'm bypassing this radiator failure problem as Strawberry Milkshake is my least favorite flavor of transmission fluid.

Has anyone tried one or see the value in an remote transmission filter?

Lots of people are using them. Spin on or inline types. Synthetic fluid is a good idea too!

Yes- over on Yota Tech this is always a big discussion topic- the external tranny cooler idea and at least one or 2 guys over there favor using a screw on type of oil filter for the tranny fluid.

Good luck with your project but for others following along I would simply recommend replacement of the factory radiator. Lot less plumbing involved and the KOYO A1998 is highly recommended and a direct bolt up application.

We did this for my friend's 01 Limited and now feel satisfied that for another 8-10 years there will be no worries whatsoever.

I have been looking at the external cooler but have been hesitant, do to the plumbing, mounting and air flow issues. This is the first I have seen of this KOYO A1998 this is the way I will be going and in the near future thanks for the info.

I recently replaced the old radiator with the Koyo. I then had a tranny shop put a tru cool cooler on. The radiator was pretty easy to do, and if I had it to do over, I would have just added the aux tranny cooler myself because it is simple ( I mainly had them do it because they were changing the fluid so it was a logical time to do the cooler). I'm glad the tranny fluid goes through both, because on high mountain passes out here the fluid still gets to about 220 degrees. The tranny cooler is mounted right in front and in the middle of the grill area.
