C4 Fab Lo-Pro winch bumper 4th gen

Bumper w/winch weight?

Any guesstimate on the combined weight of the bumper and winch? maybe a range? Wondering if the combo could trigger the need for a higher weight spring up front that's all.

c4 site says about 75lb on the bumper and you average winch will run another 75 easy. #150 is similar to a full-time passenger but the weight is in the front vs split with the rear. Most people (who actually need a winch) would probably just upgrade to stiffen or add lift.

Bullbar?

Is the bullbar to be used as a recovery point? or as protection of the bumper?

debating on whether to get the bullbar or not...

I wouldn't call the C4Fab bumper a bullbar but it's also not a full bumper. It mounts directly to the frame so the two recovery points are very solid.

Still wanting one of these so bad. Anybody with a body lift try to install one yet? I'm assuming with bumper stretch it may be fine with a 1" or maybe a little gap above?

You'd have a gap between the top of the steel and the bottom of the plastic bumper. The C4Fab hardware includes pieces that attach the bottom of the bumper to the bottom of the C4Fab piece and I believe there is an inch or two of stretch there to make it connect and look right.

Mine was only 425 and I picked it up, so I dont know what it would be to ship. But it is a weld together kit from NWTI.

That bumper was only $425??

So my Lo-Pro bumper will be here Monday!! Outside of sandblasting, what would be the best/easiest method of prep sanding for this thing? Angle grinder with wire wheel?

Awesome!
The bumper should be pretty clean already when you get it, but I would recommend going over it with some heavy duty scotch brite to scuff it up a bit. Then make sure all the lose dust is cleaned off and then wipe it down with a bit of paint thinner or something like that to remove any oils on the surface of the steel. Then it should be ready for primer and paint!

I've got the '06-'09 lo-profile C4Fab bumper along with a CBI front skid. My CBI skid is for a V8 and diff drop and it all fits fine. I say that because the bumper went on well and the skid wasn't in the way. I don't have any pictures of the two together but I do remember completing the last steps of the bumper install and seeing the two and liking how the factory gap was now covered with steel.

For those getting the '06-'09 bumper and maybe even the earlier model, I have one item to add to the install instructions. Remove the metal filler piece below the headlights. They come off very easily and by removing them the factory bumper will reinstall much easier and you will avoid scratching up your fender flares :bash:

May I ask your tire specs? I know everyone asks this question but I am trying to get a gauge on size since I have my truck lifted for my C4 BUMPER THAT COMES IN ON MONDAY!!!!!! WOOHOO

They are 275/70/17 BFG AT's. I'm also running a 1" Bora wheel spacer.

Is the wheel spacer needed?
And do you have any rubbing issues ?
Sorry for all the questions, know this isn’t the thread for thesequestion but I just can’t dial in a width that I want that won’t require much work (trimming/moving fenders & I do not want to chop part of the body). I am stuck between 255s or 275s

The spacers aren't for rubbing, just to get the tire out flush with the fender flare. You and I run a different lift but I have zero rubbing on anything with the 275's. The tire is inches away from the body mount so I don't have a need to modify it. The closest part to the tire is the rear mud flap. It's got about a half an inch clearance and gets real close on full tuck. YMMV.

Curious...if the bumper/winch combo is around 150 lbs, is a front suspension upgrade necessary? My truck is on the original (and still fully functional) XREAS.
C4 Fabrication, terrific job of designing these. Frankly, I haven’t considered a bumper because the full-build types that look like they belong on an MRAP don’t appeal to me. These could be OEM by the look. Nice work.

Thanks!
A suspension upgrade doesn't necessarily "need" to be done, but the weight will cause the front of your 4runner to sag down 1/2"-3/4" in most cases.
Typically most 4runners and Tacoma's are already sitting low in the front so people put a lift on the front to compensate for the weight and get the vehicle sitting level again.

Makes sense, thanks.

Do you know if there is enough room behind the bull bar for mounting a High lift? Is this even an OK Idea?

What finish do you have on your lo-pro? Is it just bare? I was also wondering how you like the CBI skids? I saw they had like two doors on the site and was wondering if these corresponded with the oil filter and oil drain plug? Would you be able to show any detailed pics? I initially was going to try to retrofit the TRD 5th gen plate but for the price I wouldn't mind getting the CBI skid instead.
