Yay! Finally on to steps #2 and #3 and preparing for #4. I've got to say this list is proving very helpful, so thank you, AsAKite.

Not related to production but has anyone considered using something like Linex for the step plates?

You brought up a very good point. IMO, Two things that stood out to me to go against line X (at least in the case of the rock slider itself and not the step plates) are as follows:
1) even when it's done professionally at a line X certified shop, the fact that no preparatory base layer such as self etching primer, or sandblasting is performed. Therefore no matter how strong the LineX is and its bonding to the metal, it's still prone to rusting at the slightest scuff. After all they are rock sliders.

2) the LineX has a a fairly rough texture and I do not really like the idea of having a that on the surface that mates with the frame when bolted on. I'd much rather have a smooth flat even surface for the snuggest tightest fit possible.

What do you all think? Anyone could share their opinions/ experiences?

We have had a few customers coat them with Line-X and it seems to work fine. If you do it though, do not get the frame mounting plates coated! The Line-X is so thick that it causes fitment issues and the mounting holes will not line up to the frame properly.
Also some customers have reported back that they scrape the bottom of the slider on a sharp rock and it actually starts to peel the Line-X off in large pieces, powder coat will not do that if applied correctly. So that is a good point to consider.
Personally we recommend powder coat.

Haha, there were quite a few sets of GB sliders shipped out yesterday and we have about 5 more sets in the shipping area that should go out today. They should be shipping pretty close to the order they were purchased in.

I’m supposed to pick up my sliders from FedEx on Monday, do they come on a pallet like the picture above or in a box or...? If on a pallet is the shipping company usually okay with you just pulling the items off the pallet and putting in the back of the 4Runner or do I need to find a pickup?

Question for you guys that picked up your sliders or have bought them in the past. Mine came wrapped like above. Not in a box. They weren't on a full pallet, just a couple short 2x4 stacked on each end. Fed Ex were super helpful and helped dispose of any packaging we left. There were pallets laying around from previous pick ups. It's pretty common. Bring tin snips or something to cut the metal straps. They fit with no problem in your 4Runner. A pickup is overkill. Lol

For folks getting this powder coated, how much is it costing you?
I know this maybe location based pricing but I am getting quotes ranging from 150-300. I have no idea why this range in pricing.

Also, any known powder coating facility in Portland, Oregon? (tried a search but no recent results on this forum)

That’s $150-$300 for the pair not per slider, correct? I’ve seen $200-$350 on other threads on the forum, so that seems pretty typical. One guy said he got his dipped in zinc oxide, e coated ( whatever that is), and then powder coated all for $200. There seems to be a wide range of different options and pricing.

Thats correct. It was the price for the pair.

I called a couple more places and it seems like $200 is the average pricing depending on the colors (whether you select them from their pre-determined set or make a custom one)

The $200 quotes may not be coated. I've heard a 50%+ increase for them to have the coating... so $300 for the pair. If your calling around that may be something effecting cost quotes. If it matter to you, you may want to ask. My LoPro did not get it cause I did not know to ask and they did not offer.

One place here in North County wanted to charge an extra $100 for the treads because they are separate. So, at this one place *cough* North County PC, hem... excuse me, they are asking $400+ for the set (coated). Another guy not too far away *cough* American PC, hem.... excuse me again, $200 ($300 coated) didn't care about the treads being separate.

When you say coated, do you mean e-coated or zinc oxide dipped or what? What additional coating do they charge extra for besides the powder coating? I’m still learning.
