CA residents running URD 7th injector kit

Looking on the URD website, it states that the 7th injector kit is only for racing vehicles and mayu never be used upon a highway.

Does this mean that if I put this on the 4runner and went to get it smogged, that it wouldnt pass?

Any of you Californians out there that utilize the URD 7th injector kit, can you please chime in on this?

That is true. Technically it wouldn't pass the visual if the inspector saw it but would pass the actual testing. It depends which place you go. I had the Airaid intake on my truck for a couple tests and no one said anything about it but then my last smog I had to take it to a STAR certified location and they failed my visual because of it.

This exactly. My controller is in the glove box.

I passed smog at a star station in Santa Clara a couple months ago. They guy just wanted to see the CARB sticker and number for the supercharger.

He also commented on how clean it ran :reddance:

Tip: wrap the URD braided stainless fuel supply line in black plastic wire loom and paint the blue anodized fuel fittings with black plasti-dip so they do not draw attention. So far, so good, in Cali.

Nope. Already installed by the PO when I bought it.

Smogged mines last month, had no issues as I had the proper CARB stickers for intake and supercharger clearly visible. Only thing the tech had to take a second look on, was to see how I plumbed my oil catch can.

I got mine smogged a few weeks ago and I have the TRD SC + the URD 7th.

My braided line is wrapped in heat tape and then wire loom. When it got smogged the tech said it couldn't have been running cleaner.

I am in Santa Cruz and if you need help with the URD install let me know it is super easy, the hardest part is the fuel pump. I have a Tacoma FYI so I just lifted the bed. You will probably have to drop the tank…

I put my urd 7th controler in the kick panel and hand them a copy of trd supercharger 50 state smog legal sticker. They end up thinking its just part of the whole kit.

Having all the E/O numbers help.

The trd headers, supercharger, and exhaust all have 50 state legal numbers that the smog guy writes down on the slip.

I also have the 2.2 pulley and a/n fittings and stainless steel braided lines feeding the urds 7th injector, so I know things stand out on my motor.

Toggle switches

I installed mine and ran the sensor wires thru toggle switches so I can deactivate the entire URD system and bypass it altogether on demand. (With engine OFF of course!) This also comes in handy in case something happens and the URD system were to malfunction. It allows for the system to operate normally as it would with just the S/C. Pretty slick I thought. But I have friends in high places lets just say and they will indeed assume the additional injector is part of the 50 state legal TRD set up.
Here's a pic of the toggles. One per sensor (crank, cam, 02, as well as for the URD's ground to completely shut it off as an ultimate failsafe)

Everyone needs to go to your smog guy. I've gone to 3 different smog places and they were all anal dicks about every little thing, even with smog legal stuff, just plain idiots. Finally found a good guy and got passed after having to take parts off.
