Cabin air filter

No,manual says its behind glove box and thought i might need to check it. Blow it off or something.
 
Does it say in the manual when u should have it replaced ?

I wasn't even thinking about touching it for at least a year.

from what i remember of reading the owner's manual, it says you should clean out/inspect the filter if you notice a decrease in velocity.
 
if the fresh air intake filter gets clogged the velocity of your incoming air is gonna be less than if you had a clean filter. same principal as your engine air filter.
 
I was wondering the same thing about changing it, i took it out once and shook it out and it did kinda look dirty...sometimes when i have defroster on i get a musty smell from the air coming out the vents...anyone else experience that? If so is it due to the filter or moisture stuck in the system?

the musty smell might be due to you running the a/c and then turning off the vehicle. what you should do is turn off the a/c about 1-2 mins prior to arriving at your destination to let the coils dry out (when used during long periods). over time if you dont let the a/c dry out (so to speak) the coils having condensation will grow algae on them over time, hence the musty smell.

this is what i have been told.
 
A trick to get rid of the musty smell from the A/C is to instead crank the heater on for a few minutes. It'll dry up all the moisture and take care of the smell.
 
We had some wildfires in the fall of 2003 down here in So Cal. I changed my cabin airfilter last week. IT WAS SOOOOOOOOOO DIRTY/CLOGGED!!! And I realized it was time to change it after the dealer told me several times to do so in addition to driving my sister's 2003 V8 Runner--I noticed the air came a lot faster. I forgot to take a picture before I threw the old filter away:(
 
Cabin Filter

I just took my cabinfilter out after 16,000 miles and it was dirty!!! I cleaned it with compressed air and put it back until tomorrow when I go to the dealer to get a new one, they shouldn't cost much. I had a problem with the blower, I would put it on the highest speed and it would not fully blow their until probably 5 or 10 minutes when I ewould hear the blower blow more air. I hope that was the problem. Let you know tomorrow!:banana:
 
I changed my cabin air filter out last week and here's what it looked like after 13k miles of use. I purchased mine from Lou Fusz Toyota in St. Louis for $18.00. It was an easy swap.

Wow!! $18.00 I paid $13.00 for mine at the local stealer.

I looked at mine after only 1 week. It was already quite dirty and black.....Gotta love that clean SoCal air. :mad:
 
From the looks of that picture I should buy one and put it in. I just replaced my girlfriends in her civic at 13k and there were bird feathers and all sorts of weird stuff in there. Of course when I asked her about it she said that she never hit a bird....yeah right.
