Welp. I picked up a third generation 4runner. It's a 1997 limited with 182,000 miles. It's a limited with 4x4 and it's got a locking rear differential. It's pretty much stock, which is what I wanted. It's pearl white.

I am in college so it will be kind a slow build. I have a e30 I'm selling here soon and that will pay for a lot of what I want, but probably not all. I look forward to being a very active member her at t4r.org

Good looking truck, diff lock is a plus. I feel your pain on the slow college build.

As an aside, your truck is desert dune in color, not pearl white just so you know.

I gotcha, no worries!

There is a 3rd gen color 'golden pearl' that you don't see too often, so I just wanted to make sure you weren't confusing it with that color.

I'll keep an eye on your build, looks like you have some good plans.

It's got 42 Draft Design adaptors, they work quite well but are very expensive. I have a big thread on that build. I love driving that thing.

Little bit of improvement on the 4Runner recently.

LED's in the cluster, and HVAC. It looks like there is a hotspot, but it's the plastic cluster cover that has some bad fading, I need to get a new one.

It's super easy to do.

LED's in map lights, dome, cargo, and licence plates (just cargo shown below).

New Alpine head unit and cubby. The wiring adaptor makes it so easy, I was blown away.

Took it out for a little drive, loving it!

Getting some BFG M/T 255/75/17s put on some Tundra/Sequoia wheels tonight.

Dude, I just spent the past hour crawling through your E30 build thread. I've always wanted an E30, but I have zero mechanical knowledge (and zero time, zero money for an extra car, zero space to park another car..), you know, the usual excuses. But I can respect a build when I see a good one! I saw the transformation from when you first brought it back with that toilet-bowl driver seat.. I would've burned the car right then and there. Put the 'rot' in 'Calypsorot'.

You would not regret getting an e30. They are amazing cars.

Thanks man! I've been looking at some at a car meet last night. Also, my truck actually looks different now so thanks for pointing that out! I just updated my thread's first page with how the truck looks like as of November 2014 (I don't have the latest picture of it).

Yes, they are dying slowly, luckily they made 2 million of them, so they will always be there if you look hard enough. Thanks for the compliments mate!

Went out and had some fun in the sun. Changed my front brakes, and add a broken sway bar link. It's time to get a lift and some Bilsteins on this guy.

Well, I've purchased a light bar, and begun install. I purchased this bar, and this harness. Happy with them both so far.

So, I'm aiming to mount it in the space below the chrome of the bumper. The reason being that 1.) I don't want to drill holes in the roof for a windscreen mount. 2.) I don't want to drill a hole for wires through the roof. 3.) It's more expensive to get a larger bar, and mounts.

I first got the bar wired up, and through the firewall.

I started by cutting out the plastic area below the chrome, I cut it all since the bar is almost as long as the space. I used a saw blade, it made quick work. I used the light bar for light :reddance:

This is a photo where the camera is picking up way more light than what is seen by the eye.

And realistic light output, this matches what the eye sees. When the bar is actually mounted I'll get some better photos. This is just the bar.

I need to get some mounts made so I can actually mount the bar to the front of the truck, I think I will just tack weld in some mounts, shouldn't need big welds to keep it in place.

Lastly, I'm going to wire it up to this old 1st gen switch that fits in stock switch locations.

Two weeks ago I had some more adventures as well. Went out in the canyon lands northeast of Boise for some fun with a mate.

Ded. It was fun while it lasted. I'll probably be getting a 4th gen.
