So i just installed my magnaflow catback on my 03 runner and want a little more oomph...

my choices are...

K&N CAI - cheap but people are saying this only feeds the engine hot air?

Volant CAI - Which I have read alot of bad things but looks cool as hell

Drop in K&N - maybe a little more flow

So guys any input, im really confused on the issue.

I'd just get a Amsoil or K&N drop in unless you think $200 is worth the 7whp you might really get but probably not notice. I have the deckplate mod with a K&N and it is louder but otherwise I didn't really notice anything else performance oriented.

You mentioned K&N CAI but as far as i know thats not available yet. I installed the Volant on my truck and I'm mostly happy. I like the increased sound and I like the power (feels stronger with an exhaust and intake). The only downfalls are really minor small tweaks that once Volant figures out will make the intake even better. I had the drop in filter (which I am putting in my fathers Tundra until his intake comes in) and I didn't notice much of a difference over stock with the drop in.

yeah k&n makes them, their all over ebay...

This is what I dont get...

Okay yeah volant is a sealed box which takes air from underneath and the front, wouldnt the air in the front be hot air?

The k&n isnt a sealed box but it seals to the hood and takes air from the bottom.

Which brings me to the conclusion that both intakes do exactly the same thing? Am i just stupid or what?

Yeah theres a hole in the front of the volant but if that does anything coulndt you just cut a hole in the front of the k&n?

Help me out guys
