CAI: Volant 2 THUMBS UP!!! EXPERIENCE OR WORD OF MOUTH???

I have noticed that many on here tend to hate on certain things that I feel they have not tried for themselves but simply repeat what they have heard or read. Well I went for audio first and lights for my 03 limited V8. Hid low beams at 12k which gives a great white/blue and tint of violet heated up. Say what you will about 6k being ideal. I agree with a car like my Audi S5 which comes stock with 6500k I think. With a big truck like ours 12k looks almost the same maybe a tad more bluish but it is the brightest and best set of low beams I have ever had. I went with LED for my high beams and have the phillips 8 led bars on my grill and have yet to need my brights the lights go so far out and are so clear. For my fogs i went with a 3k which is a great yellow hue that you see on the old Lexus Gs cars. Could not be more happy.

As far as my title I am referring to the CAI feud that seems to never end. Well I just installed the Volant inake on my V8 and I do not agree at all that it is only WOT. When I barely touch the gas it is not very noticeable. However when I push just past the 1/4 mark on the peddle it is a roar that reminds me of my old BMW 540 with the Dinan intake and exhaust. It roars like none other and it is a clear boost in performance. I am hitting 60 so fast I can't believe it and I have not mashed the peddle to WOT once!!!! So for those of you that would like to try a CAI I highly highly recommend the Volant. I chose it due to the air box and the fact that it is designed to work with the stock A/F ratio. It sounds like I put exhaust on and I cannot wait to now at this point. For now I am enjoying the CAI. I cannot speak for my MPG as I have my buddy disengage my ABS VSC and V trac as soon as it warms up here and I always go from the 14-17mpg to 20-24mpg depending on how hard I mash it. I would say if anything I may be getting a slight boost in MPG just due to the fact that it is so effortless to accelerate with the inane. So you can listen to the hating on CAI and buy the hype that it is WOT only. Try it yourself and see. For the V6 guys I cannot comment. I know the feeling of trying to avoid that rice sound that comes with the V6 sadly. I have a 911 which I know is a Flat 6 and not V but despite my love for it I must say it is not the best sounding engine IMO. It is not rice sounding per say but no V8 thats for sure. My Audi 2.8T A6 had a terrific sound bone stock. Probably due to the turbo but my take on V6 is don't go for a V8 sound as you will never obtain it. Go for a quiet sound and you will enjoy the sound much more. Just my 2 cents. I would say my V8 has to be running a second faster to 50-60 mph though I am not using the truck for such purpose. I have cars for that and even with my fast ones I find no reason to gun it only to brake at the light coming up. I am 33 and learned a lot since I was 16 trying to feed my ego with a fast sounding car and racing whoever is next to me (including those who don't even know they are racing us lol)

So if you want to try a CAI for the V8 cannot say enough about the VOLANT!!!!
V6 guys I don't know as I do not have one but try it out before you decide to believe what others tell you.

20-24mpg with a V8? I'm not buying it but do believe you like the sound you get for a $250 air filter. Glad you like it, I'll stay stock thanks.

I will chime in here just to give my experience with CAIs. At the Viper Truck Club we had all kinds of CAIs tested on the dyno. Including the Volant, Not one of them showed an increase in power, They did sound kind of cool though. Granted this was done on the Viper motor, And not the Toyota i tend to think it would be the same on most vehicles. Just my .02 though.

But there's a sucker born every minute. As long as guys like the OP keep equating noise with horsepower, there will still be hustlers making money off the rubes.

There are all sorts of studies all over the internet showing negligible if any increase from so-called "cold air intakes". Modern motors are much to efficient for a silly thing like that to make a difference.

Sorry but hustlers aka KN Volant Rentech and Dinan for my bi turbo v-12 Benz sl65 and CL 65 saw enormous increase in power as did the Dinan BMW setup I had put on my M5 warrantied thru the dealer. These companies would be out of business if they were simple hustlers. Keep telling yourself how modern motors are so efficient. Modern motors stock equal a car with a nasty stuffy cold and adding intake exhaust and any form of air increase is like giving your car much needed cold medicine and allowing them to breathe. Had a Range Rover which was the biggest money pit ever. My runner is my favorite car of all in my collection as I am 6 4 and like being in a truck. I purposely bought the V8 limited as I am not a fan of 6 cylinder engines unless they are flat. The 2.4 seconds we shaved off the runner with the volant and magnaflow exhaust using an escor G timing software is extremely noticeable. There will always be people who can't afford things and must hate and not congratulate. If the simple Performance flat filter even touched putting in a full cold air intake like volant who tunes the system to match your factory AF ratio CAI companies wouldn't exist. People would have caught on by now. I base my opinions and findings off of experience and trial not word of mouth and so called studies done by haters. Have fun in your world of ignorance for those that choose to insult. And much thanks to the members on here who helped me choose the right parts for my T4R. I'm 33 and far too old and busy to waste time with such negative outlooks. I will gladly watch your front end get smaller from my rear camera if you would like to put your studies against my real world experience. Whatever helps you sleep at night, sparky, but semi-coherent rants about how awesome you are do not equal data and do not impress anybody worth impressing. Come back with legit dyno results demonstrating your "true gains" or GTFO.

This is a sentence taken from your post,I have a question.What did the CAI give you by it's self?And most builders only have gains of .10s by doing mods.And how did you come up with 2.4 seconds?Did you run it at the 1/4 mile? Thanks,And have a nice day.

That will definitely help. Throw on a bigass muffler tip and some of those chrome speed holes from Autozone and it'll really be fast.
