Calling 5-speed guys..

Hello,
I've got a 99 5-speed and was wondering what your trucks normally idle at?
Is the idle different upon cold start?
My t4r idles at around 1500rpm (which I know isn't normal, I believe 700+/-50rpm is where it should be) in the morning when it's cold. Once the vehicle is warm it idles at about 900rpm
The throw-out bearing makes a whine when the truck is cold and goes away once the clutch is pushed in.. this seems to be related to the high idle?
Any input or help is greatly appreciated.

When I first start it up its been around 1500 / 1700 RPM for just about a minute or so. That's with the outside temp being around -25 celcius and even lower so pretty damn cold. Once it's warm I stay dead on 700.

I think my throttle is a little tight since I did my valve cover gasket, but I start at 1700 cold and then drop to about 600 or 700 when warm.

not real techy, but ill try to relay what was told to me...

completely normal. my mechanic (who is a lexus/toyota master mechanic of 25+ years) told me after i got a new clutch put in - because i heard the throw out bearing you are describing - that its normal to hear that. basically the trans is turning still in N, when u press in the clutch you have disconnected the tran from engine so there goes the "noise". made perfect sense to me. anyways, mine idles high at first (cold or not -always has) and the drops down to the 600-700 range.

1500 cold and 600 at normal temp. Try cleaning your throttle body real good and lube the throttle return spring.

Even my auto idles high when its cold, somehwere like 1800 RPM, then it lowers as it warms up.

With regard to the throwout bearing, mine is wearing out also and it's time for a clutch. When I press in the clutch pedal it makes a slightly different noise than when the clutch is not engaged.

Took it to IRBIS former mechanic, Mr Slava Chizhov -now of Quality Auto in Aurora CO and he agrees the throwout bearing is the cause.
