yeah the key was extremely easy to obtain.
walked into the city of coquitlam office near austin and mariner off of "service road", said I wanted the key,
then I was given a paper to sign saying that i will treat the trail system with respect and use it for recreational purposes only.
and right away i got the key
no questions asked nothing.. was very simple. I was in and out in less than 5 minutes.
the lady said they are going to try a different method in working with ppl wanting to go up, before ppl wuld tear the gate down or make new trails to bypass the gate. now they are letting everybody in and monitoring the ppl who are going up. you have to register your vehicle license plate and prove it is a 4x4 by showing your insurance papers..
its a trial basis only and dnt know if it will be indefinite. if ppl mess around up there and use it for illicit purpose "ie dumping stolen cars and littering" it will definitely be shut down.
and they can keep everyone out if they really want to. just below the trail head under the hydro power lines they put up a MASSIVE concrete wall, that NO rock crawler could get over, It must be 12 ft high of flat concrete, impossible to pass. so they have the power to keep everyone out if they want.
ppl shuld learn to respect the right to visit these remote areas.
too bad i dont have a good enough off road vehicle to get up eagle.
i have a gmc suburban 2500 which is not worthy enough to make it up.
my toyota 4 runner project will take me there.
