Calling all OEM LCA rebuilds! How’s everything holding up over the years/mileage?

After reading through dozens of threads, on LCA replacement vs. rebuild with OEM bushings and XX brand balls joints, I’m most likely leaning to the latter.

I haven’t seen much feedback on long-term durability and overall satisfaction of rebuilt LCAs. So...for those of you who have already been through the rebuild - How’s everything holding up? How many years/miles do you have on your rebuild? Which aftermarket LBJs did you use?

Looks like most go with MOOG LBJs, but I’m curious of your first-hand experience with those and other brands you’ve used.

I realize complete replacement OEM arms are ideal, but I’m just looking for some empirical data on rebuilt arms as I consider my options.

Thanks

I have one 1AAuto LCA on my '03 V8 LTD, it will be two years in July. All my driving is on road, no complaints thus far. I don't know who's ball joint they use but before I installed the arm I put a needle on my grease gun and shot some more grease into it.

Has anyone had any experience with the Energy Suspension bushing replacements on the stock arms? When mine start giving me trouble, that it the route I was most liking looking into taking.

Thoughts?

I'm getting close to have to work on them as well but have always been under the impression that I could simply pick up a set of lightly used 5th Gen Arms. That may be cheaper or easier option to consider. I'm just thinking 5th Gen owners would either toss them or simply let them sit in their garage.

Thanks for the responses guys. I’m mostly just interested in longevity of arms that have been rebuilt with OEM bushings and new aftermarket ball joints.

I’ve already heavily vetted all other aftermarket options.

I only purchased 1 OEM bushing, then melted it apart to install poly bushings so I'm no help there. BUT I did install Moog greaseable LBJ with the shallow boot design at the same time 45k miles ago and no clunking or clicking or looseness complaints yet. The grease fittings are difficult to reach when fully assembled but if I'm ever dropping the LBJ bracket to work on anything else I hit them with a few pumps.

Good info on the Moog LBJ - glad to hear you’re getting good results.

Through more research, I’ve also seen that Sankei 555 makes excellent OEM-quality, made in Japan, LBJs. They’re also available from Napa under the Altrom brand.

I’ve had mine for a couple of years. Just did the Moog LBJ, no bushings yet. I need to grease everything this month. I’ll take a look and let you know.

How many miles and what type of use on those Moogs over the past 2 years?

We’ve put probably 40-60,000 miles I guess. We put a lot of miles on it a year especially now that we live in a rural area. Mostly highway, little to no off roading. But the roads here are rough as hell and salty as hell.
