Oklahoma boy checking in here.

I grew up in Stillwater but now reside in Tulsa. My girlfriend lives in Stillwater though so I'm there at least a couple weekends a month.

I've seen your 4Runner on the forums here, great looking truck. I'd be down for trying to organize something this summer.

We have been working on discovering and rating trails in the Oklahoma region... kind of a long term project for us where we have just begun to scratch the surface. I will also be making several trips to Oklahoma this summer to scout, establish, and rate trails and overland routes through the region. You are welcome to come along.

This thread should get you started:

See you on the trails,

I'd love to get together with you and Overland Mr Leary.

I've been eyeballing the next trip there in May. Just waiting to find out if my brother can escape from school to come along as well.

I read some information and trip information about the K-Trail and would love to try it out... But I'm not that confinement to try it alone and I don't have any friends with 4wd's!

I'm hoping this trip in early May will give me some idea of what to expect.

i think we should, and im sure my dad would be more than happy to go too with his land cruiser and it has a winch if anyone needs help
not sure of any trails really but im game, i would like to have by 2" BL first but i can without

Understand completely. I've been there and was blessed to have the support and help from some of the more experienced guys to help me build up confidence. The k-trail is not rock crawling by any means, but there are some sticky sections.

The trip in May will be pretty tame when compared to some of our more hardcore trips. It will focus more on scenery and history with plenty of time in camp to hang out, swap stories, and meet everyone. Good food, good folks, good times.

Like I said, I will be up there periodically this summer. with one or two built rigs out on the trails, there really isn't a whole lot that we can't get past... and if there is, no big deal... we will route around. Its nice to have some technical terrain every once in a while, but it usually takes a back seat to the scenic vistas.

After 15 May my schedule will be pretty clear. Start a thread over here or on CO and lets get a group together and go explore. I have lots of maps of the area including topos and some maps from the early 1900s. Many of my scouting trips include old abandoned roads and trails... the kind that time forgot. If they are still there, we can check them out!

I'm not sure whether I'll be in my Cruiser or my 4Runner, but either way we can have some fun.

Right now I'm a fan of fairly tame. Stock suspension and street tires!

Hopefully that will change... But it will probably be later rather than sooner.

I do have a locker so I've got that going for me!

Yippe! a chance to visit with other T4R owners and see the mods. I have not done anything to mine except fix the broken lights.

Going to take mine to Colorado in August but probably won't do very much trail running as it is still factory.

Do the 4runners do well in the sand along the Arkansas?

i wouldnt trust it without someone that could pull you out, i was going to with stock tires but decided not to, now i bet mine will do good

I am so up to join you on this. I drive a Pickup at the moment but its a fairly capable Z71. Ill be working 2 jobs in not too long so ill be getting my 4runner probably in mid summer. I'm also looking for some nice trails that are legal and it would be great to find some near Stillwater because ill be going to school up there next year. So for the record, I'm in on the meet and By the way I live near Edmond.

Well we may need you and your Z71 to communicate with any rednecks we may bump into. ;) Kidding of course!

I just got confirmation from my brother that he will be able to make the Spring CO meet with me. So I will be reserving my spot soon.

Hopefully if Mr Leary isn't too busy I can pick his brain about some Oklahoma trails and trip ideas.

It would be great to get people to trail but even the ones that are stock can go and take pics of them all then they could ride with the ones trailing
and any are welcome, im sure i can get some non runners there too

Stillwater 4Runner

Thor,

I have seen your rig around town, looks great! Mine is a Maroon/Silver 2 tone Limited with a Ginormous Yakima box on top of it. I am mainly stock, but have decent tires at least. I'm a down for a trail run.

Thor,

I'm not a student. My house is south of town off of Western. I see you around McElroy and Main most often. I work downtown at the Stillwater Summit Co..

I have not been of pavement much in NE OK as yet, so I would love to explore some of the spots that y'all have found.

I'll be hanging out in camp in the evenings. If we don't get to chat during the day while on the trail, we can discuss these "important business matters" over a tasty adult beverage.

See you at the Rolling Rally!
