I've seen a few posts recently (mostly 5th gen) where people were complaining that their 5gal Jerry cans didnt fit their new bumper holder.

Anybody here have that problem?
What Jerry can brand are you using & are you happy with it?

I'm looking at Scepter & Wavian in the $70-$80 range on Amazon. I've seen some cheap Chinese $40 knock offs but I wont cheap out on this item.

Rotopax are overpriced, but they don’t leak, even when they lay on their side. They are much more versatile with where they can be mounted. By the time you get a quality Jerry can that won’t leak that has a decent spout, you’re in Rotopax price territory. Although their sizes are only 4 gallons at the biggest. I have a 4 gal I strap down to the stock roof rack and it’s streamlined and doesn’t require a aftermarket cargo rack or bumper to mount securely and is aerodynamic.

The US Military Scepter Jerry cans are nice and I’d probably consider getting one if I was anti-Rotopax lol.
 
Not all Jerry cans are the same, and the difference is in the seam. Some cans have a raised welded seam, and others have a flush welded seam. Holders that work with the flush seam will not work with the raised seam, and the same for the other way.

I bought a flush seam can off eBay for $55. No issues at all.

Man... Just go take a road trip to Canada and pick up a couple Scepter jerry cans. They won't rattle around and they can take all kinds of abuse. You wont break them. They are solid!
 
It has been pretty frustrating trying to figure out what fits. So what jerry cans/water cans actually fit?

Has anyone moved, or relocated their license plate bracket?
 
I have the Scepter military grade one, fits fine, very snug. A very well made product, highly recommend it. Just be aware that at least here in Canada the nozzle is not included and needs to be purchased separately

This guy here is saying his Scepter doest fit or lock with the Shrockworks? Maybe he needs to turn it so the cap is facing the other way?

I have mine reversed to what he has in the picture, with the cap facing inwards on the tire side. Just went out to double check, the way the cap is angled on mine the top edge of the cap is about 1/2" higher than the handles so it needs to facing this way to fit under the angled part of the Shrockworks bracket.

The red one in that picture is not the same as mine though, different cap and emblem in the center, not sure if it is a metal can or they have changed the design? Mine is a couple of years old but these were designed for the US military so the design should not have changed.

Resurrecting this thread to see if anyone has a part/model number for one that for sure fits the shrockworks rear bumper.
