Calling all Softtopper owners!

I've had my softopper for quite some time now and I absolutely love it! Just a couple questions for you guys..

1. Does yours leak at the factory weather seal on the cab? There seems to be a gap where the two flat metal strips meet and you have the screws in there.. Been trying to battle this leak there.. Ive taken the strip off and pushed the weather stripping toward the front to bunch it up, but seems like it would mulitilate it.

2. Anyone found a way to keep the back flap down without the velcro? When I go off roading a bunch of dust comes up in there..

I haven't noticed a leak in that place. At least not yet. I put the weatherstrip as far toward the back of the truck as I could.

I guess it could be leaking from the overlap, overlap screws, or maybe even the snap attachment eh? Maybe some silicone sealant in the area, once you determine exactly where it's coming from.

As for the rear flap, I'd try adjusting the plastic bar clamp as far forward as possible. It might help promote a better dust seal.

I wouldn't want to put Velcro on my tailgate. If I had to do anything, I'd get a long strip of magnet material and put the Velcro on that. Or better yet, Velcro a strip of fabric that has the magnetic strip inside of it.

Yeah it leaks from where the two strips meet, and there's a flat peice underneath it that the screws screw into to hold them together. I tried putting some foam weatherstripping there and it seemed to help a little bit. I was trying for a less permanent solution but silicone would come off easy I'm sure haha.

Yeah I've put that bar back as far as I could but the bar stops if from going farther haha.

Yes!! Thank you I was that same way! I don't want no dam velcro on my tailgate either! You are a dam genius!! I hadn't thought of that! Thank you sir Hahah.

Oh and btw if anyone else is trying to seal up the sides under the snaps, what I did was get foam weatherstripping and cut out peices and stuck them to the bar in between the snaps, works perfect no dust comes in and seals it up better

That's a great idea. I'm thinking you could stick the velcro to these and cut it out. They are cheap.

The slickest solution would probably be 5-10 strong round magnets sewn into a long strip of soft fabric with Velcro on the back.

I've also considered getting one of those pin and hoop fasteners and putting one on either side of the aluminum bar in the back. That thing slides left and right and I'm nervous it might fall out.

I haven't noticed any leaks in the overhead area. Course I have only put mine on 3 times since I bought it a few years ago.

I put the velcro on the back once and didn't like it. So I bought several powerful magnets and wrapped them up in fabric and packing tape then glued on velcro to those pieces. Doesn't exactly seal the back completely, but I haven't noticed any dust coming in so I guess it works.

Guys, i use something similar to this Xtreme Seal Foam Black on boat curtains that get alot of seaspray over the bow, as well as any automotive softtops. The bead on it seals up pretty nicely when snapped/latched down. I use double sided seam tape during the application so the stitches won't leak. Your local upholstery shop would probably charge next to nothing if you have it marked where you want it. FYI.

I got these slightly different size grommets from ACE today. Very hard to get the one on the large bar, so it should stay without sliding around. The smaller one should keep the larger one from slipping off the larger bar.

On the upside; I've never had to use the lower screen bar, and the velco does work really well, despite looking a bit rough.

Cant remember it ever leaking from the upper roof area, but just not rained on enough to know.

To repeat/update on my softtopper again anyway - its still a great bit of kit. love it.

So I ended up getting a strip of magnets from ace(could be stronger) and putting them in the hem of this stretchy pants I got at goodwill. Got some really nice velcro and made two long strips as long as the whole velcro peice on the back.

Seems to be sealing up pretty good! A couple spots are still open but way better than before! Thanks for the ideas guys!

My bar in the back doesn't move on account of those screws in the bar.
