IMO the FJC spring lift is the best bang for your buck, you can find FJ cruiser springs (& shocks often as well) for cheap (and often free) in the classified section of this forum as well as toyota120.com & fjcruiserforums.com. I paid $100 for mine (just all 4 coils) and think it's worth every penny just for the ride, even if it didn't lift. You get ~1/4" in the rear and ~3/4-1.25" in the front. It pretty much levels the 4runner and makes the ride MUCH better. I have yet to see anyone say they didn't like the ride of the FJ coil springs & a lot have done it.

I originally had the FJC coils & 1/4" spacer (1/4" spacer yields 1/2" lift) in the front but recently switched my shocks to bilstein 5100s which have a built lift of 0.85", 1.75", & 2.5" (in the front). So now I have the FJ springs and the 0.85" setting which leads to ~1-3/4-2" in the front altogether with the same 1/4" (from the fj springs) in the rear. wow thats great! Looking around at the lifted 4runners here, that un leveled look really bothers me now :moping:
Thanks for the info and I will definitely search....oh and one more question...I am not so educated on all the mechanical workings of cars and stuff but when I turn the wheel to full lock, sometimes it makes a small pinging noise...I thought it could be the spring shifting or the....I want to say ball bearing?

Ball joint? Maybe... I'm not sure honestly you may want to post a thread. I usually try not to turn to full lock unless I have to.. Dunno for sure if it's true or not but my old man always said it puts strain on the pump & steering system so I've always kept that in mind. My old Z71 always makes a whining noise at full lock and has since it was new.

Yeah we try not to either. I have also heard about the putting strain on the system. I will be "inheriting" this car from my parents when they retire and move:D I want it modded a little the only bad thing is that its 2wd even though its never gone off road before....not even a little:(

oh and our silverado (v6)doesnt even work(my friend told me about the ECU wont allow the fuel pump to turn on or something....I noticed what you meant by z71....I thought it was a corvette lol

I will start browsing this forum more, I just dont have too much time right now :/

I have the FJ shocks, struts, and springs now. I just need to find a place that will swap it all for a decent price. Dealer wants $220 but I'll keep calling around.

I bought mine from aunt and it was the same way. It is also 2wd but I took it off-roading while I was in Colorado a few weeks ago. Nothing hardcore but it was fun even though I had to turn around when things started getting too rough. Wish I'd had my AT tires on then, I'd probably have gone a little further... I have a couple videos of it in my build thread :)

Ok you got me. I bought the kit off eBay. Most of it is pretty original looking...but I don't think they modeled the back very well....something looks different from you guys :(

Oh I see. i know its a very capable truck its just I never off roaded before and 4wd would be nice to have especially learning. And now we have hankook tires that are like mild off road tires I would like to have some fun with the thing:bluejump:

It is called a Satoshi Grille. I had a buddy of mine that has a tacoma do it for me. The basics of it is just take the stock grille and cut out the inside of it leaving just the rim and then it is fiberglassed all the way around in order to give it a "lip." Mesh is put in behind it and if you want to you can add the old FJ emblem from any generation.
