So the idiots at firestone ruined one of my cam bolt tabs...anyone have experience replacing them or do I need to weld tab up?

You beat me to it St1f. Yeah the shop is responsible for that you shouldnt be ****ing that up on an alignment

I need the part fixed asap and am going out of town this week. Wasn't worth fighting Firestone over $100. I may send customer service a note, but really, it is my fault for trusting these baboons. :smash:

The part may be $100, but the labor is going to be even more. The lower control arms NEED be removed for the welding.

Have them weld in the Total Chaos cam gussets. They are way stronger. The Toyota ones bend A LOT. If they do just fix the stock ones have them run a bead on the outside for support.
I will be replacing mine in the near future since mine have bent to crap from wheeling.

Not necessarily. A good welding shop could bend the tab back, then run a light bead on the outer side to firm it up. They'd need to run a lower setting and 0.024" wire, that way they'd get very little penetration and it wouldn't pass through and tack the arm to the crossmember. All that needs to be done is to strengthen the tabs so they never do this again. I don't even see a need to replace the bolt, just turn it down, weld the tabs, then get another re-alignment.
Oh yeah, and shoot the part down with matte black spray paint or it wil be rusty in a day or two!
Looking at that photo, are the adjustment tabs just a weird-shaped washer with 2 tabs on it? I don't recall the stock ifs on my '87 being two pieces, they were solidly welded "slots" for the cam bolt.
Firestone wil not pay for that. That is a lot of work and they aren't even able to do it. Take it to a quality alignment place that knows what their doing And get a new alignment and Send Firestone the bill.
Do you have uca's ? You need them.
