Camburg front suspension

I just received my front coilovers from Camburg today. Man, these things look awesome!! I am going to install them tomorrow morning. We in Florida have a tropical storm coming so everything is shut down. Perfect time to install the front suspension. If anyone wants to check out the coilovers, go to;

www.camburg.com

Once you are there, click on products and then select the 4runner highlight. The ones I choose are the CRS 2.5's. What I find interesting is that once you decide on this suspension you have the choice of no sway bar versus the after market one they sell for a $100. The people at Camburg told me that 95% of the folks installing this system opt for no sway bar.

Any thoughts on this? I figured I would try it without the sway bar first and then go from there. Right now I have the occasional rub on my current stock sway bar with my 265/70/17 BFG AT's.

Once the install is done I'm going for a run out in the storm. I'll let ya'll know how it feels compared to current OME suspension.

How did the install go? Any pics?

The install went well. If you decide to get the Camburg, let me know and I'll give you a few tips that I learned during my install process. It took us about 3.5 hours total. (including alignment)

I am waiting to post pictures until after the ARB bull bar is installed. I would like to do one single post and the end of the project. (suspension, lockers, bull bar, winch, etc...)

talk to you soon.

Here's an update that is not so good.

It turns out that with the Camburg system and the 4runner there is NO OPTION of a sway bar. Your only choice is to not have one. This for me is not exceptable. I am just not comfortable driving around Orlando without a front sway bar. There is to much pitch and sway for my comfort level.

The upsetting part for me was that when Camburg informed me that they no longer made sway bars for Toyota, (even though they advertise such on their website) they reccomended I get the bracket set from Donohoe. So thats what I did. Guess what?

Even with the brackets from Donohoe, the front sway bar rubs the Camburg coilovers! Needless to say, I will be sending my slightly used coilovers back to Camburg for a full refund and I have already ordered my Donohoe's which are due tomorrow. (I have a corproate account with FedEx which makes shipping very affordable)

I do have to say the customer service at Donohoe kills Camburg.

I should have the install of the Donohoe's done by tomorrow, (saturday) and at that point I'll post an update.

allright. got the Donahoe's installed and i have to say i am very pleased. (the install process was easy and did not take very long.) part of this statement comes from the fact that my front sway bar is reattached which makes me feel safe.

offroad i must state that the Donahoe is a bit smoother than the Camburg. at this point i am anxciously awaiting the release of the Donahoe rear system.

Its been a few months and I was interested in an update on your suspension upgrade. How do like the DR suspension? Any off-road performance info, street ride, durability issues?

Thanks for any updates
