Camburg UCA's, I want the low down from owners

I know I've stretched the limits of my ball joints and CV's with 3.5" of lift up front. Not gonna drop it so I need a remedy. I'm tearing up the upper ball joints pretty quick, they last about 6mo. Looking at the Camburg UCA's and they look like a great option over the droop limiting factory setup. The uni-ball design is genius and they look great. They are also low profile on the outermost edge allowing me to remove my Spidertrax spacers.

Questions:

Got pics?

Will I get even more droop?

Is the uni-ball dry or greased?

Need an alignment?

How long is install?

Will I be bored from lack of changing ball joints?

you wont get more droop your front shocks are the limiting factor

Uniballs need to stay dry, oiling them can cause failure due to dirt sticking to them

you will need an alignment

I installed some for a friend, its pretty easy, should go from start to finish in 3 hrs


Why are you changing you uppers all the time? ripped boots? they dont have to be changed if a boot rips. and the uppers rarely fail as is. A-arms dont add down travel, but they will allow more before binding. Those toytec coilovers dont have the droop to require ucs's. they are really for EXTENDED travel Icons and EXTENDED travel Camburg coilovers. Where they added an extra inch of droop for use with uca's . When you buy them you have an option. Dont try and make you oem arms or even the aftermarket into some mid travel setup. Your just going to kill you cv joints next. keep it in the recommended height ranges. if you want more buy a long travel kit or cut the ifs off

I didn't buy a 3.5" lift to only have 2" of lift. There's still over an inch if thread left.

You shouldn't be ruining your upper ball joints with only 2" of lift. I've got a solid 3" up there with stock arms. I have about 3 years on my UBJs and they are doing fine. I think maybe you have more lift up there than you think.??

I would go with the Light Racing UCA's over a uniball UCA like the Total Chaos or Camburg. The LR's have a sealed ball joint so you don't need to worry about stuff getting in there.

They are pretty nice. He has the total chaos ones, and they are on a newer tacoma (2009). The only reason is that the upper ball joint is a problem on those tacomas he would have saved the money if it wasnt a necessity.

and please remember that you are not supposed to use all of the threads on a coilover. 3" of threads doesnt correspond to 3" of lift. The coilover is mounted about half way down the a-arms. and that makes about 1" of thread equal to 2" of lift. If your truck rides bad it is because you have no down travel. UCA's wont fix that at all.
