Camburg UCA's

I finally got these in the mail (waited a couple weeks on Camburg) from Demello yesterday. Just had it aligned and what a difference. I can finally stop drooling over all the other UCA's on the forum!

They arrived packed well. These are excellent quality, very well made and put together. The finish on the powder coat was great, all the hardware was included, all in all no complaints.

These are the new model with the bigger uni ball. Also notice the tab for the abs wire!

what do UCA do exactly?

-allow alignment to get in spec easier (add caster).
-more usable down travel with extended shocks
-better clearance with wide tires
-strength

I can't tell how they connect to the spindle? Like on my TC's the bolt goes through the uniball to connect. What am I missing?

The Uniball hole on top is recessed so the bolt sits flush. When the suspension bottoms out, that bolt will not punch a hole through the firewall fender. Had the same exact arms on my Tacoma, VERY NICE!!!

Yeah what was said above.

It is a recessed 12 point head on the bolt. Pretty cool, I think it allows the uniball to flex a lil more too.

got the same set up with ICON and Camburg and in the same mile high city! very pleased and no regrets. is a little strange though how Camburg has the grease zerks pointing downward. I had a rough time the first time I greased them

Nice!!! I love my new setup, the truck handles so much better now.

It is kinda weird about the zerks, just how they designed it I guess.

I got some 90 degree zerks at Ace. It looks like they can be greased on the ground just by turning the wheels in and out, but I haven't tried yet. My camburgs make a lot of noise, even when greased, is that your experience as well?

You can grease the bushings all you want but typically the noise from this kind of upper control arm comes from the uniball itself. When I had these on my Tacoma they would start squeaking and making loud high pitched sounds when turning or just going over bumps. It's normal but annoying. I used to spray this stuff on the uniballs when they start squeaking, Tri-Flow aerosol spray. The drip bottle would probably be less messy but this stuff worked wonders. Just spray and shortly after the noise it gone. When the noise starts up again, spray them again. They would also stop squeaking when I would spray them down with a power washer as well. You can find this product at most bicycle shops. I think it has Teflon in it. Some People have used WD-40 but many tell you to stay away from it for some reason.

I bet because the bolt is recessed it allows a lot more dirt, etc. to enter the uniball area, causing excess noise. They should have made a cap or something to cover that area. I've had my TC's for a few years now, I grease them maybe twice a year and never get any noises.

Looking at the picture I can see why the uniball would collect dirt, mud or water in the cup. It would seem that a cover would help or it should be sealed.

No mine dont make any noise. I was sure to make sure they were extremely clean prior to installing and I spray them with tri flow. You might want to pull them off and give them a good clean, and reinstall?

Also I think its a hit or miss thing with the noise. Some guys get really noisy UCA's other do not. This is common with all makes, some have it, some don't.

I agree with the dust cover, unfortunately the only one out there with it is the Icon's, and although they are nice, I dont think they are that nice $$$$$$.

But just my opinion.

I'm assuming this is the same UCA as the FJ version? Was chatting with a guy from Wheeler's Off-Road and he couldn't confirm there wouldn't be any issues running the FJ UCAs on a 4Runner.

Yeah its the same as the FJ. You should be just fine

They do make a cap. You just have to buy it. Billet aluminum

4th and 5th generation 4runners, FJ Cruisers, 2nd generation tscomas, 120 and 150 series land cruiser Prado's, Lexus GX 460/470s all have identical front suspensions.
