camshaft bolt hole dethreaded

Hi

5VZ - one of the bolts on my cam cap wont torque, the slot is dethreaded. Luckily (I think) it is the cap covering the cam seal/cap and there's no shaft underneath it.

I was recommended to use a time-sert, which I have never used before. I've also heard the threads extend past the length of the cap bolt and a stud + nut will work. Any idea where I could find such a stud?

Thanks guys

I've used these many times to repair the coil on plug thread (pass side valve cover) with great success and many other stripped holes! Just don't drill to deep. Just be careful of drill and tap chips falling into the engine.

I also have used time-serts, both have been successful.

Just make sure the thread size before ordering. I think it's a M6 x 1.0 but I could be wrong.

The bolt appears to be 7mm x 1.0. I don't really want to drill into my cylinder head, can I just use a 6mm helicoil kit and a 6mm bolt of the same length instead?
