Seems like you need to brush up on your engine knowledge a bit.

The 4Runner has a dual overhead cam engine, meaning it has four camshafts, not just one.

Their phasing is controlled by a complex computer-controlled system called Dual VVT-i. The timing of the valve events is precisely optimized by this system already, so even if you could put in "bigger" camshafts, you probably wouldn't see a useful performance increase.

So yeah, the answer is "no."

anyways...
i upgraded my carburetor yesterday and my dual VVT-i self adjusted to the mods quite well. I'm definitely making more low end torque with the diesel fuel conversion.

ok heres the dead honest truth.... the 4runner is a slug... no matter how many air filters, exhausts upgrades, superchargers you slap on this vehicle.. it will be a slug...

I mix in a few gallons of Diesel and E85 every fill up, really opens her up and the diesel offsets the gas mileage reduction from the E85

IDK why these guys are so hard and mean to you. I assume your ultimate goal is having a bit more powerful engine that would give you better acceleration than what you have. I would just talk to your dad and have him upgrade your SUV from 4Runner to LandCruiser. You will get a V8 and much bigger camshafts when you upgrade to a LandCruiser.

See, that is what sits next to the runner every night in the garage. The runner is a family car and we've never had anything like it so I didn't know it was DOC. Yeah I'm young, yeah I didn't buy it, but I would buy all the upgrades in hopes that it would bring half the smile that the GN does. I'm a full time student and I'm just trying to learn a little bit more. Don't hate, just educate.
