Can an 06 4runner be both

I'm about to buy an 06 4runner and I'm doing my last quality check (looking at the carfax). I do this last since I have a few friends who can help me look at vehicles and they can pretty much tell if it was in a wreck or not and other stuff. Reason I check is to double check maintenance, etc. So why pay for a carfax on a car that I'm not considering.

Anyway, carfax has the 06 4runner as SR5/Sport edition. Does anybody know what this means? I tried searching online but all I see is SR5 compared to Sport.

Carfax is WORTHLESS. Even carfax admits they collect less then 5% of all repair data on all vehicles. I'd NEVER EVER pay for a carfax report. Total waste of money and time.

It isn't worthless. It is ONE more tool. Just a tool. And as noted, most everything that carfax has is voluntary, so that means you will not have all the info.

But that wasn't the question. NO. It is either an sr5 or a sport edition. I have no idea why carfax lists them together. They are 2 distinct packages.

My 05' was the same thing. Not sure why.

I know what you mean. I just figured it was my last check and for $35, what the heck.

Thanks.

They are listed that way because the only model with a differing VIN is the Limited models. The 7th digit of the VIN will either be a 4 (for a sport OR a SR5) or a 7 for the Limited.

Congrats on picking a 4Runner.

The Sport is an SR5 with the Sport option package.

I'm sure the OP really appreciates your helpful reply to his original question.......

I got more information out of going to the Toyota Owners website and registering the VIN under my log in. You can do it even if you don't own it and it'll show you any service done by any Toyota dealer. Of course if it wasn't maintained at the dealership it won't help you but mine was and I got very detailed records.

Awesome, I looked and he missed the 25000 service and he did the 45000 service at 47k and then next at 53k and then did the 60k. So he went a couple thousand miles long on this service and skipped one. Not perfect but its really better than I maintain my Honda:boink: and I got 101k on my car without major issues and my car is still running good right now.

thanks for the information.

Congrats on picking a 4Runner.

Yeah, it was either that or the FJ and I couldn't see myself riding in that for DD but for offroading it would of been awesome. Wish the 4runner's were priced like the FJ than I could of bought new. I know it's only like a 3 to 4k difference but 30k was my limit. Anyway, since it's used I won't concern myself with every scratch I get from offroading.

Makes sense, that explains the 17 inch sport edition rims and the sport edition rail. :reddance:

Thanks.
